I receieved my set of the complete series on Monday for $62 including s&h. I have been really enjoying it. I would say average quality is about 8.0 with some episodes much better than others. Most are taped from tv but many are from a local station and run 25:00 to 25:20 in length (without commercials). The ones from TVLand average the usual 22 minutes.
Let's face it. This show ran so long that if they ever get around to releasing it, it will be 12 years to get the whole thing on dvd. I got tired of not having it and just bought a set from I-Offer. I have done that with many series lately as I am tired of waiting forever for the offical companies to get off their duff. There are a few mistakes on the menus here and there but you can figure out which episodes are which pretty easy. I just printed a list of all episodes from the excellent guide at www.tv.com and then inserted them into the dvd cases for each dvd. I believe the rights to this show are in a legal mess with ABC possibly owning the first five seasons and CBS /Viacom owning the last seven. That will make it a real struggle to get it on dvd legitimately. Also it probably is not in real high demand I'm sure. Although I really love the show, the last three seasons really just did not hold up for me. After the triplets were born and Steve got married it just was not the same. Probably should have ended after the ninth season. Overall, my favorites are the b&w shows from the first five seasons but Uncle Charley was a great fit and played by a great actor also so no qualms with the first four seasons in color either. |

I like the earlier episodes best, too. There sure were some great TV shows back then, and I really miss those times. |
