Default Songs that were RE-RELEASED by the same artist(s)

MOODY BLUES:
"Knights In White Satin" released in 1967.
Re-released in 1972 as the long version since songs such as "Layla" and "Hey Jude" had paved the way for long, dramatic songs.

ELTON JOHN:
"Candle In the Wind" released in 1973.
Then re-released as a live version in 1987.
In 1997, the lyrics were changed so Elton could sing it for the funeral of Princess Diana. It was soon released as a single and became the biggest selling single ever.

NEIL SEDAKA:
"Breaking Up is Hard To Do"
Released as an upbeat single in 1962.
Neil re-recorded the song but changed it to a slow song in 1976.

THE DELLS:
"Oh What A Night"
Released as a single in 1956.
Re-released with a more upbeat Soulful rhythm in 1969.

THE SHIRELLES:
"Dedicated To The One I Love"
Released in 1959 and then two years later in 1961.

TODD RUNDGREN:
"Hello It's Me"
Released as a single by Todd's band The Nazz. The song didn't crack the Top 100 Billboard.
Todd rerecorded the song when he became a solo artist and released his up-tempo version in 1972.

QUEEN:
"Bohemian Rhapsody"
Released as a single in 1975.
Re-released as a double A-single w/"These Are The Days of Our Lives" in 1992.
AEROSMITH:
"Dream On"
Released from their 1973 debut album, Aerosmith.
It became a Top 10 single in 1976, when it was re-released as a single.

Wasted Days and Wasted Nights- Freddy Fender
Its only Make Believe- Conway Twitty
Rock around the Clock- Bill Hailey
(In all 3 cases, the songs were hits each time they came back, but, IMHO, the origs were the best versions)

Again in 1982, and again in 1995 & it had Vince Gill in it.

R.E.M.'s "White Tornado." There is a version on Dead Letter Office and a different one on Singles Collected. The one on S.C. is much better.

I believe Gloria Gaynor released "I Will Survive" twice.

^ Bad pun, Jack. Bing Crosby released "White Christmas" quite a few times. I also believe The Carpenters released "Merry Christmas Darling" twice - 1970 & 1978.

When "Baby Come To Me" by Patti LaBelle and James Ingram was released in 1982, it peaked at #73 on the Billboard Top 100. Several months later, it was used as a love theme on General Hospital. Viewers demanded the single, and it finally hit #1.

"I Will Survive" was originally the B-side of "Substitute" but was reissued as the A-side after DJ's picked up on it and started playing it.

That would be "Nights In White Satin." But I like the way you spelled it... sounds more elegant!

Another one would be "There's A Moon Out Tonight," by The Capris. First released in 1958, it went nowhere; re-released in 1961 and did much better.

You know Fleet, I am embarrassed by that error for the fact that song is one of my fave songs. I have no clue why I typed it that way.

Maybe you felt "elegant?"
