Smile Good Times 2004

What would Good Times have been if it were made 30 years later? I can imagine The Evans dissing George Bush, I can imagine the kids lamenting that they don't have IPODS, I can imagine the evans lamenting that they can only afford local channels. and James's job would earn him at least 6 bucks an hour......................... I can imagine the Evans talking about 9/11...... and what a tragedy it was............................ No one would wear afros,Thelma might wear long weaves, and Michael and JJ might braid their hair....................... The Evans might watch American Idol and America's Next Top Model.................The kids might say, "I wish we had bling-bling!" JJ and Michael might wish they had some gold in their teeth, and they might wear baggy clothes hanging off off their butts....................... Anybody else have anything else to add what might happen if the show was aired in 2004

Both Thelma and J.J. would definitely have a cell phone. Michael and J.J. would be listening to rap and would be using the phrases, "dawg" and "my bad" Florida would be shopping in Dollar Stores and Wal-Mart. The rent would probably be around $500-$600.

The gang members who tried to recruit JJ would be wannabe rappers and James would be shaking his head, trying to understand his kids' music.

JJ's addict girlfriend would be on meth or crack.

All this speculation about Good Times in this day and age is interesting, but things are too Politically correct for a show like this to air now...except on rerun channels.

The Evans family would have most likely told Ibe, "Ibe, do you know you're name has the same pronounciation as the world's greatest online store? It's called, Ebay, E-B-A-Y.

James "death" would would be all over the internet, and there would be a whole bunch of tabloids running rumors about John Amos, and VH1 and MTV would really talk about it alot. There would be speculations such as, 'Do John Amos and Norman lear hate each other? Does John amos and Jimmie Walker have a bitter feud? remember how heated up this thing was in the 70's. Now shutter at how much bigger it would be in 2004.

Everything these days has to be edgy, dark and hip, so a new version of Good Times would make the old show look like Leave It To Beaver by comparison.

And like I said before, with everything being so damn politically correct, I don't know if you could tackle the issues of these times the way Norman Lear and his producers/writers did.

For it's time, Good Times was pretty bold, but that kind of a show might not have a place in today's TV landscape. Everything is watered down and...just not as good as things were back in the golden age of the sitcom, the '70s.

1. James would've been carjacked in Mississippi

2.James job would've been in Vegas instead of Alaska. Florida wouldn't want to move there because of the gambling.

3.Sweet Daddy wouldve ran drugs and operated out of a "stripclub"

4."Lootin Lenny" would be feuding with animal rights activists

5. The Evans' would watch "Seventh Heaven" instead of the Waltons

6.In Getting up the rent James would've bet on the Bears and they'd win by getting two TD's in the last 2 minutes

7.Keith & Naomi would drink "Gin and Juice"

8.Keith would've had to call a press conference to explain how he got hurt

9.Thelma would've caught Keith using steroids while he was rehabbing from his injury.

10.The cable and internet would be going out all the time because bookman would be halfway fixing it.

11. Thelma would get engaged to guys she met on the internet

12.Judith Cohen would've been a wannabe RnB singer

13. JJ would delivered Pizza

14. "Sexual Behavior in the ghetto" would be a documentary shown on PBS and on DVD

Now, come on. Do you really think Thelma would have gotten engaged to people she met on the internet? She didn't seem like that kind of person.
