(Jo, Rick, and a 12-year-old girl enter)
J: Hello? Beverly Ann? Andy? Pippa? Anybody...
Ri: Jo? Do you think that they heard that we were bringing Alexz and left?
J: Shut up! Don't offend your daughter! Alexz, are you hurt?
A: No. Dad, did it ever occur to you that maybe you're the one they ran from?
Ri: Oh, witty aren't we?(Blair comes down the stairs.)
B: Jo! I thought I heard you bellow! Who is this? Oh, I got it! It's a mini-you!
A: Nice to see you too, Blair.
B: Isn't that precious!
J: It's a Kodak moment.
Ri: Speaking of film, where's Tootie and Jeff?
B: They're on their way. Tootie had to give several encores in the past year of her play that she's been in. How rude of me! Please sit down!
A&Ri: (plop down on couch) Don't mind if I do!
B: Well, Jo, she may look like you but she acts like Rick. Always joking. (a strange look passes through the Bonner family.)
J: Actually...
Ri:...Alexz has...
A: Lukemia. No biggie
J: No biggie? No biggie! Young lady you're talking about the diesease that killed your twin brother!
Ri: Jo...
A: My God, Mother! You treat me like a child! Did you have to bring Adam into this?
J: That's because you ARE a child and-
Ri: Whoa! We are not on Family Feud here!
J&A: Shut up!
Ri: Don't tell me to shut up young lady!You may be a teenager but I am your father!
A: That's right! I am a TEENAGER! I DESERVE TO BE TREATED LIKE ONE!(she stomps up the stairs)
B: Well...
J: Go ahead.
B: You handeled that well.

(Tootie Jeff and Evie enter.)
T: We're here! Hello-oh...something's wrong.
E: We can sense the tension.
Je: Jo, Blair, Rick. Hi. Where can I put this?
Ri: I'll show you the way through the Jungle of Women.(they go upstairs)
T: So? Tell me everything. Jobs, kids, careers, kids, kids. So, Blair any kids?
B: Actually, I have a daughter, Rachel, but she's not here right now. She's with, pardon the words, her father.
T: Jo, any kids?
J: I have a set of twins. A girl and a boy. Adam and Alexz.
T: Where are they?
J: She is upstairs probably beating up a pillow that she has dressed like me. When we fight, that's usually what she does to cool herself off.
T: What happened? I thought you said you had twins?
J: I did. When they were born, we thought that everything was normal. Then, we found out that Adam had lukemia. The doctor said that there was a more than likely chance that Alexz did too. Adam died later that year. Alexz is still alive as Blair knows well after that little encounter, but she's getting worse and I'm-(Nat enters pulling a small girl behind her.)
N: Hi guys. This is Sara. She's my daughter. Sara, take your stuff upstairs while I catch up with the girls. Hi! (she sits beside Tootie.) Why all the gloomy faces?
J: May I continue? (they all nod) Thank you. I'm so afraid that if Alexz dies...I won't know what to do. I'll just waste away into nothing.
B: To me, having children is just like having money. Jo, you wouldn't know about that...
J: DOn't joke.
B: Who's joking? But if you run out you can always get more.
J: Not in my case, Blair. I can't have more children. That's why we were thrilled when the twins were born because we wanted children so badly and there we were getting our wsh granted and in one day half of that wish is taken away. Alexz is my pride and joy now but, she's a teenager and you know what that means! I embaress her because I exsist.(Alexz comes down the stairs)
A: Mother?
J: Yes?
A: I just heard everything you said. I'm sorry. It's just not fair! At least you got to know Adam! He was my own brother and I don'tremember him! Oh, Mama! (she sits down and starts to sob on Jo's shoulder. Rick enters and together, Jo and he pull Alexz up the stairs into bed.)
N: I had no idea. Jo went through enough when her dad died last year, but now...
T: Losing a child must be the hardest thing in the world.(a car horn honks)
B: That's Rachel! (she runs to the door, opens it , and waves to a girl of about the age of 11-12) Rachel Lynn Warner! Get in here! (a younger Blair comes in the house.)
Ra: Hello, all.
N: Jo, I wouldn't come down here!
J: (Yelling from upstairs) Why not?
T: It's your worst nightmare!
J: Tootie, my worst nightmare is-(pokes her head out of the room upstairs and screams) AHHHHHHHHH! A clone of a 12-year-old Blair!
T&N: We told you not to come out!

(((The next morning at breakfast. The adults are sitting around the table, men standing up. Alexz is sitting on the counter, Rachel is by the window and Sara and Evie are talking by the blender.)))
Je: Anybody up for basketball today?
Ri: Alexz? Interested? I bet you next week allowance that you can't beat us.
J: (warningly) Rick...
Ri: In fact if you beat us, I'll double your months allowance!
J: Rick!
A: You're on!
J: Alexz!
A: That is if Mom says it's okay.
J: Go on! Have fun. Just don't be too disappointed when you don't get an allowance for the next two months!
A: Mother please! I'll go change.(She rus up the stairs)
Je: I'll get the basketball! (he leaves to the front yard)
Ri: Mother please.
(((Two hours later)))
(They come in)
Ri: What was that?
J: Did you lose, Al?
A: No, I kicked their sorry little butts! Sorry.
Ri: What was th-How did you do that?
A: It's called talent. You know you should get some.(Jo laughs)
Ri: Are you gonna let her talk to me like that?
J: I'm sorry! But she does have a point, Shaq.(she and Alexz leave talking)
Ri: Shaq...Shaq? Who's Shaq? Maybe he's in ythe phone book. I'll go check!

Keep On Going...

(((late that night the adults went to a movie and left the girls home by themselves. When they come in the room Rachel runs down the stairs.)))
Ra: Mom! Mrs. Bonner!
J: Jo.
Ra: Whatever! Alexz fainted and we don't know what to do!(Rick runs up the stairs and Jo starts asking questions while Nat is calling an ambulance.)
J: Rachel! Calm down! This has happened before! You didn't do anything wrong. When did this happen?
R: Right before you guys came in. I didn't know whether to call 911 or-(sobs into Blair's shoulder. Rck comes down the stair carrying Alexz.)
Ri: This has never happened before. She's out cold. We need to get to the hospital right now!
(((The hospital-a few hours later)))
(Jo is sitting beside Alexz's bed holding her hand)
J: You know Alexz, I knew you were going to die sooner or later, but I never thought that it would be sooner than later. I'm so sorry that I didn't talk to you about dying before.
Ri: Hey. How is she doing?
J: Not any worse. But I can't say that she's getting better.
Rick, this is just like with Adam. He fainted. We brought him to the hospital. We sat beside him and talked to him for days hoping he would wake up. But he never did. I'm losing my baby.(puts head in hands and starts to cry. Alexz's eyes flicker open)
A: Mom? PLease don't cry. I feel better now. What happened?
J: Alexz! Well, we don't know yet. But we do know that you are going to get better.
A: You promise?
J: (nods) With all my heart.

Ri: Alexz, do you remember when you told me that if I could get you an entertainment job you would sing? I got you a job! You can start right after you get home.
A: Thanks, Daddy, but...I don't think that I-
J: Don't talk like that Alexz!
A: Like what? I just thought that I might not be able to sing for a while. My throat hurts really bad.
J: We'll leave if you want us to.
A: No! Don't! Please. Mom I scared. What if...What if I die?
J: If you die...well then...you die and we can't change that. Alexz, listen to us. God has given you a gift. You might have not discovered it yet, but you will, and Alexz I will swear to you that you won't die until you've used that gift. It may be your voice or it may not, but whatever it is, promise me that you won't throw it away. Do you promise?
A: Yes. I promise. Can I sleep now?
Ri: Of course.
A: Will you stay with me until morning?
J: Of course.
A: Thanks. Goodnight.

BA: Well, I guess that's everything.
J: Not quite. Alexz, thyis is yours. (She hands Alexz a small jewlery box.) Open it.
A: (she opens it and pulls out a Precious Moments locket.) It's beautiful! Thank you!
R: Open it and see who is inside.
A: (Alexz opens the locket and gasps.) It's Adam.
J: Yeah, it is. We gave you this so you could have Adam close to your heart always. I want you to remember that we love you,and Adam, he loves you, too. Just remember that and no matter what life throws at you, you can be assured that your family loves you more than anything in the world. Charlotte Alexzandra Rose Bonner, that is going to last you the rest of your life. Not the locket, the love that was put into it. That little boy in there, he's praying for you. And so are we.
A: Mom, Adam is and always was close to my heart. Mom...(she hugs Jo tight and sobs into her stomach)
R: Don't forget him, Alexz. Don't forget him...
A: I won't! I promise I won't!
