Default Is this true?

I read that Audra Lindley, when offered the opportunity to get her own show was all for it, and that Norman Fell wanted to stay put with Three's Company.

Is that true? Back then, when I was just a teenager and read the articles about the Ropers moving on, I didn't want it to happen. That stuff NEVER seems to work! The Ropers were GREAT on Three's Company, but, as someone else correctly said, unless you get a good supporting cast, it just doesn't work out.

Oh well. I still enjoy seeing the Ropers on Three's Company. Those years were some of the best.

Yeah it's true, she obviously never looked at the BIG PICTURE which was if the show FAILED she would no longer have a job-lol She was just too focused on the small picture, "GETTING HER OWN SHOW"

I would much rather play a good SUPPORTING role on a HIT show than to want my own show and fail. Then again, I'm easy to please.

But they were FORCED into having their own show so they really didn't have any choice but to take the chance of having their own show. But yeah it made more sense to want to stay on three's company like Norman fell wanted to do

That doesn't seem right that they were forced into that show. I mean, they were great on Three's Company and had a good thing going. If the executives thought their own show would do so well, Lindley and Fell should have had a clause that protected them in the case it didn't work out (as was the case).

If they can bring people back from the dead (Dallas), they could've brought back the Ropers in Three's Company and still kept Ralph Furley mixed in there somewhere in a supporting role.

Well they were not going to keep Furley/and the Ropers so money wise it made sense to pay just One person instead of two

Norman Fell did have a clause in his contract that said if The Ropers only lasted one year then he could come back to Three's Company. Unfortunately the show lasted a year and a half. I think he was scammed by ABC and the producers and if TC hadn't been able to get Don Knotts, I think he and Audra might have come back.

In a nutshell - yes this is true. We were just discussing this very thing again over in the Three's Company board here on SitcomsOnline. You can check that thread out (it was in the Ropers vs. Furley thread) too if you want.
