Or was that a Ted Knight thing? I know Henry Rush the character was a cartoonist, I am wondering what his character has to do with all those universities.

I'm not exactly sure how that got started, but I read somewhere that people from all over the country would send Ted Knight those college sweatshirts. Then he would wear them onscreen. Thus began Henry Rush's trademark.

That was the same thing that happened to Bill Cosby and his sweaters.
