Default What Interests People under 30 about the TV Show Alice?

It is pretty interesting to me I am 36 years old and used to watch Alice when it first came out. I was around 7 years old.

Back then I knew the show wasnt that great, but I watched it? I think it was something of the 1970's -early 1980's. Who notice THEY have the BEST Tv Themes, which would actually make you watch it for the first 5 minutes, then not having more then 4 channels with no cable back then. You would just watch things

It interests me why younger people who didnt watch it TV Shows originally.... now give a old show a chance?

Three's Company I know is the best. The shocker for me was Facts of Life! I loved that show, but it is a shocker how big and important it is to younger females. I loved it too because i never had it sisters so it was so cool as a kid

But Alice? Why are younger people under 30 years old watching Alice?

I am watching it because it reminds me of my youth, but watching it I am thinking wow this is bad & wow I remember that, I thought I'd never think of that again.

Why are you!!!!!
?

I'm under 30 and it's just something to watch. It's not bad and it's not great. I pretty much only watch old shows and Alice is something I haven't seen hundreds of times.

I'm under 30 and I watch it for the memories I had of watching it as a little boy. I LOVED Vera, , thought Flo was funny, and Mel intimiated the pants off of me! LOL He was pretty scary, and could be really loud when yelling...then again, some of the monsters on "The Muppet Show" had the same effect on me, LOL!.

Now however, I see that, IMO, it's not that great of a show. It's a "warm fuzzy" getting to see it again, but I think some of my favorite sitcoms from the 70s and 80s were done better (of course it helps if your lead character is INTERESTING...)

My grandmother worked in a place alot like Mel's Diner and since I've watched it as a little boy it always reminded me of her. It still does and I guess that is why I still watch it, despite it being just an average show. Some things are so contrived they annoy me! However, it makes me think of my mawmaw and I miss her. She liked the show too.

Kind of along those same lines, I grew up in the country, and every now and then we'd go out to eat at a nearby truck stop. With the rural staff and customers, the waitresses with their pink outfits and white shoes with the really thick soles and their down-home demeanor, it was cool to kind of "live out" a bit of "Alice" for a while on those visits.

I love watching Alice. It is good entertainment. Nothing will be offensive to anyone. There are good laughs.

Magnum is right. It is good entertainment and the characters made the show.
Who was that guy that sat at the counter with the glasses on?

I assume you mean Henry, the phone repair guy. He first appeared in the 2nd season episode "Love is a Free Throw", and became a fairly regular guest after that, appearing 80 times (if my count is correct...just counted all his appearences on my guide )

Alice was a great show. Just try putting it against any of today's sitcoms and it's no contest. I was 11 when Alice came on and I watched it all the way until the end. They had people on that show who became friends and who you wanted to spend a half-hour with each week. I couldn't wait until the next episode .

I was 6 when it started, but I don't recall if I watched it then or not. I really got into it during 79/80 in the summer when it aired daily on CBS before "The Price is Right". I think at that point, they were showing 1st thru 3rd seasons on the daily ones. I even taped a few of them on audio tape (still have some of them even! ) I've still got "Semi Merry Christmas", "Take Him, He's Yours", "Principal of the Thing" and "Sweet Charity" from those airings (the "Semi Merry Christmas" was taped while on Christmas break visiting my grandparents in Florida. I think I even have the date I taped it written on it, but I don't have the tape handy to verify)
