Default Glasses - can't see anything

Okay, I'm exaggerating here. I got glasses today, and they feel... weird. First of all, having something sitting there on your nose does get annoying and the shape of these... rectangle-ish, but they just don't look right to me. Let's just hope I can get those contacts in. Few questions:

1) How do you live with glasses on all the time???
2) I can't touch my eye... contacts are gonna be hard for me to use, right?
3) I see this annoying outline of my glasses everywhere I look. Does it ever go away?

Yeah, I've had them for about 15 minutes but those are my questions... any other info is appreciated, they are driving me insane.

Hon, I've been wearing glasses since before you were born. I started wearing them 18 years ago, in 1989.

Yes, you'll eventually get used to having something on your nose and after a while, you won't notice the outline of your glasses (unless you got a pair with REALLY THICK AND FAT temples, like my mom did. lol Temples are the earpieces for your glasses, BTW).

I've had my glasses for so long, I'm at the point where I feel naked if I don't have my glasses on my nose.

I hold on to my previous pairs of glasses, should anything happen to my current glasses (as it did this morning - I laid on top of my glasses by accident and ****ed up the right temple, so now it's bent out of place). I find that it's hard to wear my old glasses, because they don't feel like how my current glasses do - so it takes forever to get used to them, haha. Fortunately, my last/current pair of glasses are plastic frames, so it wasn't too difficult to get used to wearing my old glasses again. It's the wire frames that I have an even harder time with - they usually have the adjustable plastic nosepiece thing, and I HATE THAT! I haven't had glasses with that since 2002, heh.

Yeah, you'll get used to them. As a matter of fact, when I first started wearing contacts I constantly kept wanting to push my "glasses" up still but they weren't there so I looked like a real geek periodically pushing my head between my eyes!

I was like you - couldn't put eyedrops in or go near my eye, but I did get contacts and again, you get used to handling them. Now I can dig around in my eye for an eyelash or anything else and it doesn't bother me a bit.

Five years ago though it got to the point where I couldn't handle soft contacts anymore (dry eye) and was so blind that even showering and shaving my legs was difficult. I had to get 2" from a magnified mirror to be able to put my makeup on. With severance pay I received I got laser eye surgery and it was fantastic. Didn't hurt a bit, had no bad effects and it was the best thing I've ever done. I had "supervision" afterwards and my night vision actually improved. I had been considered "legally blind" where you can only determine fuzzy shapes and colours.

I just recently though had to get glasses for distance only again. I can have more surgery free (there was a lifetime guarantee), but I'm not at that point yet - just on the edge. I got super lightweight rimless glasses and I'm adjusting to them again myself.

I'll give you a week and you'll be totally used to them.

I've been wearing glasses since I was 8 years old and I'm 42 now. I can't see worth a damn without them and the only time I take them off is when I'm asleep, taking a shower or cleaning them.

I got them first in 2005 - starting 8th grade. It took a long time to get use to them, but I sort of like them. I thought about getting contacts, but I sort of *like* glasses. I hope I can eventually have the lasik (sp?) surgery done someday.

The last thing I'm doing is letting any sort of laser anywhere near my eye.

I think they put you to sleep - it's supposedly painless.

yea don't worry about em too much I got glasses too. I got those transtional ones that turn into sunglasses people say it looks cool on me at least. Glasses becomes a pain cause with out my glasses in class I can't see at all even if the teacher moves me to the front row so I can't forget em or i'm pretty much screwed

I've been wearing glasses for almost 20 years now (I was 9 when I first got them, and am almost 28 now), so I also feel naked without them. You'll get used to them eventually. I've had the same frames since 2000 but if I ever replace them I'm thinking of getting the rimless kind.

My glasses prescription has been the same for 4 1/2 years, so I haven't had to change the lenses since then. I attribute that to wearing shades while I'm outside and/or driving. I found those little clippy sunglasses things at a kiosk in the mall and wear them over my frames. They've worked great, and feel much more comfortable.

i got them when i was 7 and had them until i was 12, (i got contacts then) so thats like 1999-2004 or some crap like that. anyway, they are pretty annoying, not gonna lie...lol. but the whole "there's this weird outline outside of my eye!!" thing goes away quickly, later the annoying thing is just the lenses popping out and stuff -____-. i used to be obsessive-complusive about my glasses and always had to clean them. but yeah. contacts are annoying too. LAZOR EYE SURGERY FTW!
