One of my favorites is "It Might Be You", sung by Stephen Bishop. It was the love theme from Tootsie. Another great one is "First Time On A Ferris Wheel" from The Last Dragon. That song was performed by Smokey Robinson and Syreeta.

This is a difficult topic question for me to answer because I love movies and so, of course, I love soundtracks. I would say I have about fifty soundtrack CDs. The greatest soundtrack ever recorded in my mind is the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack. It features the Bee Gees as their best with "Stayin' Alive", "Night Fever", "How Deep Is Your Love" and "More Than A Woman". (and "You Should Be Dancing", an older hit from a year and a half earlier) There is also a great instrumentals called "A Fifth Of Beethoven" by Walter Murphy.
Other pop music soundtracks I love include Flashdance (the title track by Irene Cara and "Manaic" by Michael Sembello are 80's classics), Purple Rain (say what you want about Prince but he is one of the most gifted men in music), Fame, Coyote Ugly and The Virgin Suicides (featuring great 70's pop songs like "Hello It's Me" by Todd Rundgrin, "The Air That I Breathe by the Hollies and "I'm Not In Love" by 10cc). As far as instrumental soundtracks (aka "scores") there is Vertigo by Bernard Herrmann, Star Trek-The Motion Picture by Jerry Goldsmith, The Empire Strikes Back by John Williams and Goldfinger by John Barry. |

A very pretty instrumental soundtrack is Love Story. However, I think my favorite instrumental soundtrack is A Patch of Blue. I fell in love with the music the first time I saw the movie, and found a used CD copy of the sountrack on Amazon.

It would probably take me forever and a day to list my favorite songs from movies.
Saturday Night Fever - Just about every song on that soundtrack. Somewhere in Time - The music found throughout, especially what you hear when Christopher Reeve first meets Jane Seymour as a young woman is just... absolutely beautiful. It moves me every single time. Footloose - Pretty much every song on this one, too. The Virgin Suicides - A movie that has a very haunting feel to it, and I agree that it does have quite a soundtrack. "The Air That I Breathe" has a special place in my heart and I also love Air's "Playground Love." Urban Cowboy: "Hello Texas" "All Night Long" "Stand By Me" "Cherokee Fiddle" "Lyin' Eyes" "Lookin' For Love" "The Devil Went Down to Georgia" "Orange Blossom Special" "Darlin'" "Look What You've Done to Me" "Rode Hard and Put Up Wet" The soundtracks to Dirty Dancing, Fast Times at Ridgemont High, Top Gun and way too many others to name.

Steve Tyrell's version of "The Way You Look Tonight" from Father of the Bride (1991) is another favorite. That was the father/daughter dance songs at my sister's wedding.

I also love "Gonna Fly Now" from the first Rocky. It's a great song to work out to, or for driving.
