Default Did Sanford And Son Kill The The Brady Bunch?

i Read on some website and tv books That after sanford and son and the brady bunch went head to head in 1972 that sanford and son took all away all of the brady buch viewer and cause the brady buch rating to get lower and forcing it off the air in 1974
so my question is Did Sanford And Son Kill The Brady bunch?

Yes. I believe it must have happened that way if it really aired at the same time. As much as I like the Brady Bunch, Sanford and Son ranks as one of the greatest sitcoms of all time.

While Brady Bunch ranks as...well, nothing I can think of. Sorry.

iam not Really a fan of the bradys bu I think bradys couldn't compete with sanford, alot of shows in the 70s had a hard time competing with Norman lear shows like Ali in the famil, sanford and son, maude and the jeffersons.
Sanford and Son will always rank in my top 5 as one of my favorite tv shows.

IMO The Brady Bunch ended at the right time. They were going to kill Robert Reed's character off or recast him and the show would have definately JTS then. For the question Sanford And Son did hurt The Brady Buch.

The show was on its way out anyway. There was a big difference in the fifth season compared to the other seasons. Season four by all means was the best but it fell flat in the final season. When Carol was looking too sexy and plus she got on my nerves with the fact what was her purpose around the house with a live in maid. The writers could had put her to work.

I agree that TBB had run its course. Putting it on opposite a fresh sitcom that was cutting edge, topical, and just plain HILARIOUS, it's a no-brainer.

Also, back then most households probably had only one television set. And who was usually in charge? The father. I can't imagine my father ever willingly watching the Brady Bunch. Now, Sanford and Son, on the other hand. That I can understand.

I read somewhere that Sanford and Son was the reason for the demise of The Brady Bunch.

I believe it. I remember my brother & I having fights with my dad over what to watch. The solution was that my parents bought a 2nd TV for us to watch (a 15" B&W Zenith).

I disagree, The brady bunch just wasn't a friday night show and should have aired on sunday. Remember sanford and son wasn't the only opposing show at 8pm on friday nights and i'm not going to believe for one second that TBB and S&S were in competition-lol
