Wesley Snipes: 'Race Influenced Tax Charges' - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

Hollywood star Wesley Snipes has accused prosecutors of targeting him on federal tax evasion charges because of the color of his skin.

The star of the Blade trilogy was last year accused of fraudulently claiming refunds totaling nearly $12 million for income taxes already paid between 1996 and 1997. He was further charged with failure to file returns from 1999 through to 2004.

But Snipes believes he is the victim of "unscrupulous tax advice" and his attorneys will argue that prosecutors filed additional tax evasion charges against him and not against two other defendants because they are "Caucasian, while Mr. Snipes is African-American."

According to the indictment, Snipes' taxes were prepared by accountants with a history of filing false returns to reap payments for their clients.

A federal judge is set to consider the motion.

So true. Didn't Willie Nelson almost lose everything over back taxes? Pulling the race card from the bottom of the deck makes me sick.

Thanks Janice - that's the guy one I was racking my brains trying to think of. Plus, there's been lots of others I'm sure.

I am SO tired of the race card being played. It's gotten absolutely ridiculous.

Gee, if they keep up with affirmative action, then whites might actually start to be able to scream racism soon eh? Give me a break.

How's THIS Wesley - I'm a po white girl who isn't going to even earn $12million in her lifetime let alone be able to commit fraud with it. Why don't I scream that I haven't been given the opportunity to earn that kind of dough.
