Role Edgar Buchanan got due to his role on Petticoat Junction?
He did a couple of tv movies with Walter Brennan where he (EB) played Jason, a nearsighted old ranger and Brennan plays his old sgt. The films were The Over the Hill Gang and The Over The Hill Gang Rides Again. The two fight crime and a third ranger joining them is played by Chill Wills (who provided the voice of Francis the Talking Mule) and Wills rides a mule while the other two ride a horse each. Interestingly while EB was on PJ he was at Filmways and Filmways also made Mr. Ed (made by some of the same party who made Francis the Talking Mule). I wonder if EB got his role due to his playing on PJ-- popularity reasons that is. Good DVD to pick up and worth at least two viewings eachj are these films. I think Platinum puts them out.
