Default I see there was a follow up Movie to Saturday Night Fever called "STAYING ALIVE"

Was this movie any good and how was it different from the 1977 Movie? Did tony Manero have the same look or a look to fit the 1983 Time?

The thing I remember most from this period - 1983 - was Travolta appearing shirtless on the cover of Rolling Stone. All of Travolta's body hair had been waxed off within an inch of its life. They tried to make Tony Manero ultra-slick and more PC. The movie bombed. The general public doesn't even know that a there's a sequel to Saturday Night Fever.

I haven't seen it in years. I'd almost like to watch it again to see how bad it is, but I think I'll pass.

The only thing that really resembled the first movie was his patented strut.

The Bee Gees once again did the music. Two or three songs from the soundtrack I have on their 1967-1990 boxset, and they are pretty good. I have never seen the movie itself, and have no desire to. Sly Stallone was the director - need I say more??

Actually, the movie didn't bomb (though it sure did deserve to) but was one of the highest grossing movies of 1983. I think that it has been pretty much forgotten though. I remember when Paramount put out Saturday Night Fever, Grease, Flashdance, The Urban Cowboy, Staying Alive and Footloose on DVD in 2003, Staying Alive was the only one that didn't place somewhere on the Billboard chart for top selling DVDs. And I actually think that both The Urban Cowboy and Footloose are even worse than Staying Alive.

As pretty much everyone has indicated Staying Alive is not only a terrible sequal, but just an awfully bad movie period. Not only did Sly Stallone do a terrible job directing the movie, but he hired his younger brother Frank to write and record songs for the soundtrack. All of which are terrible. One of Frank's songs called "Far From Over" became a top ten hit, though it is a dreadful song.
