Lightbulb If the show had continued ...

... could the powers that be at ABC have given roles to new characters played by the likes of Britney Spears, Paris Hilton, and Lindsay Lohan? This way they could have been positive role models and famous for something other than partying and getting into trouble.

Your thoughts?

Are you talking about if the show continued from 1988-now or starting in 2007?

TheTornado, I'm not totally sure I follow you.

When you say "if the show continued from 1988-now", are you referring to them keeping it running past 1993 (they'd be in their 20th season today--talk about a MILESTONE!!!) as apart from a 14-year gap in production. The "gap in production" was the first thing to come to mind when I read "starting in 2007."

Or are your referring to the point at which these girls join the show? I never took the time to pinpoint a specific year they would join (given they all joined together). I think they would join much closer to 2007 than 1993, especially Lindsay, who was born in 1986 and was not yet seven when it ended.

I don't think that they should use Paris or Britney Spears. I like the show the way it is. Don't change it.

One of the best things about this show was that the cast were "unknowns". In other words, we didn't have any reconceived notions about the actors before the show so we could totally take their characters at face value.

Adding any "star" would have ruined it. You don't mess with a true classic and the Wonder Years is a truly classic show.

Believe me, there weren't girls like Britney, Paris and Lindsey are then. Two entirely different eras.

AFAIK all of these girls were "unknowns" in 1993, although I think Britney was in a "Mickey Mouse Club" contest the year before (with Christina Aguilera if I'm not mistaken). What I was saying is that "TWY" would be their first forays into "showbiz."
