Default Any suggestions for burning dvds ?

Normally for dvds I use my video/dvd recorder but I have a few pal dvds that I have been transfering over to NTSC Region Free format. I am using Sonic but it takes a couple hours just to build menus burn dvds etc. Do you guys know of any better faster programs that I can use ?

It's not really the program, it's the computer. Depending on what you have in your computer (processor(s), hd, memory) DVDs can take from under 30 minutes to 3+ hours.

If you are using Sonic to do the standards conversion, note that PAL to NTSC encoding takes a LONG time.

Smile Old Fashioned Way

I've been transferring the Pal DVDs in my collection to NTSC format the old fashioned way. I play the PALs on a Multi-player and dub them over to a NTSC DVD recorder as they play I record. Just like dubbing tapes in the old days. I get good results too and I enjoy the shows as I'm recording them. Works everytime and I don't have to be a computer genius to figure it out.

Hi,

Having another prob. Recently bought a video of a tv show, and trying to put them on dvd. I convert them to dvd on my dvd recorder one episode at a time and than try to capture it from the disc onto my computer. But each time there is no sound. Which the dvd has sound but when transferring it from dvd to file it gets rid of the sound. and i've done this before and never had that problem. Any suggestions ?

The more you convert, the more quality you lose. Understand this.

It's much easier to buy a VHS/DVD player-recorder combo. Play the video, and record it straight to DVD. It won't record copy-protected tapes though. I don't understand the fascination with some people using a computer to make transfers when it's much simpler a different way. Using a computer will give you drop-out/pixelation on the disc a lot of times. The straight VHS transfer does not. When you have your disc done, use a duplicator (not a computer) to makes copies. With a duplicator, you actually get an exact duplicate.

Try DVD Shrink 3.2 It's free software.. although I don't know if it will necessarily convert from NTSC to PAL. I've been strictly using it for NTSC.
