Default "Cars Wars" episode...What were they thinking?

Alice was standing there telling Mel she knew how old the car was, it needed tires, etc. So why would she still want to buy a car that old and in that condition?

The girls felt they were saving money but at least with a bus they didn't have to pay for gas, insurance, tires, repairs, the mileage and wear and tear on the car by going to pick up the other two waitresses for work.

On top of that, how would they split up the car among the three of them? DUMB DUMB DUMB...Alice should have known better.

This episode was barely 21 minutes long, they're cutting almost 20% of the footage.

Would you rather watch these episodes cut, as they are, or time compressed, but with no footage cut?

There wasn't much different from ION's airing to E!'s. About the only thing I saw missing was after the scene in the car talking to Mel, they show Jason talking to Mel, Jason fixes the car, and tells Mel he'd buy it for $500 bucks. There was one quick line missing when Mel shook on the deal to sell the car, when Vera landed her hand in the cream pie. Mel said he knew it was a mistake.
Also, on the opening sequences, I thought it looked like ION was using the original ones, so I was curious which one this would have. It had the same one E! and TNN used, which was the one CBS used many times when they aired it in the summer back in 1979/1980, mostly on episodes without Tommy. It was basically the 4th season opening, with the short 1st season theme, with Philip McKeon's credit removed.

I like the "boppity bop" (or however it goes) closing theme much better. Yesterday they had the closing theme where Linda is singing/humming the closing theme..."Oooooooh" however that one went.

A couple more comments on "Car Wars". First episode where we get to see the alley behind Mel's. Also, whoever did the closed captioning must not be a regular viewer of the show. When Flo called Alice the "Hackensack hotshot" (which she's done several times in the past), they had it as "heck and set hotshot" whatever that is

I guess the person who does the closed captioning was hard of hearing.

I too was going to post this was the first time we seen the alley. It was a pretty large set. Or at least it seemed to look that way.

I agree with you Irene, the girls never took into account the additional expenses with a car. 70 cents a day is nothing compared to maintaining a car.

Plus how stupid was Vera to get involved, when she didn't even know how to drive? lol

Yeah, that was dumb of Vera. She went back to her old "dumb" ways. I kept thinking of how was 70 cents so bad when you compare that to the expense of having a car? Very very bad decision on their part.
