I don't know! I found Steve to be really annoying in the first few seasons and he seemed geekier. In the later seasons he mellowed out but he was still a nerd. It was kind of weird watching Jaleel still play a nerd when he was all grown with his voice deepening and everything!

Early years

I started watching as a small child in 1994, so I identified more with the later years of Steve. However, after watching the entire series, the early years suit Steve the most.

Do you agree that in 1993 (between Seasons 4 and 5) Steve grew up real fast?

Later years, without a doubt. His character became deeper and more complex than just the annoying dweeby smart guy breaking stuff. He had complex relationships with Laura and Myra, even more with the Winslows when he moved in, with Eddie and Waldo once they graduated, etc.

He became more of a real person with deeper relationships and true character developments. Last 1/3 of the show was at its best with the middle third somewhat close behind and the first third way behind.

The poll actually has three alternatives, seasons 1-4, seasons 5-7 and seasons 8-9. Well, I chose seasons 5-7. During this time, he had matured, he was with Myra and almost forgot about Laura, and he wasn't about to marry the Laura bitch yet.

I prefer Steve in the later years with all his inventions. He's still annoying and still a nerd, but he is more liked, and more interesting.

I prefer Steve in the first 6 seasons (I voted season 1-4 though). When they got older, it was just annoying to see him acting so silly. And his voice got annoying later on too!

Well, it wasn't Jaleel White's natural voice anymore. His natural voice was only used for the Stefan character.

His voice was funny the first few years....When he became an adult, it was just annoying. You could really tell his voice got very deep, and he was forcing Urkel voice.

The early years prior to all the crazy inventions, cloning and other unrealistic antics. At least in the earlier years, you can see a child adopting a chimp to save it from animal testing, breaking stuff and chasing after a girl who does not like him like that. As the years when on, I guess they thought newer kids would enjoy the antics while the original fans were growing up.

My Steve vote goes to the earlier seasons. Steve was super annoying, but I found him quite endearing at times....especially in seasons 1 -4.
