Last night's episode, "The Reporter" Mel and Flo are joking around about the rape trial, and Alice starts twitching her nose and mouth as if she is upset, but doesn't want to say anything.

Oh God, I missed that. I wasn't really watching the episode, I was really listening to it since I was on the computer at the time. So, this episode must have been made close to the one where Alice was talked abt doing that "habit".

Definitely, I think maybe it was something that Linda Lavin did in real life and they incorporated it into the show.
