Anyone remember the Oliver Munson case? I've searched the entire forum and found nothing on him. He was the sweet-natured african american teacher that disappeared right before he was to testify in a car-theft case. Any updates? So sad......

Yes, very sad, but yes his body has never been found. He was murdered, the blood in the car plus the fact the guy wouldnt just up and leave, he was murdered. I am pretty sure that Dennis Watson had a hand in some where, I mean two other people had convienently turned up dead right before they were supposed to testify against him in previous trials. Hell Watson was charged with murder once but then when the witness turned up dead from a mysterious drug overdose the murder charges were dropped. That whole thing happened about 10 years before he crossed paths with Oliver Munson.
With Oliver out of the picture, his testimony wouldnt be happening so the DA's office was forced to offer a plea bargain and Watson pled guilty, was sentenced to 10 years in prison and was paroled in 1989 after serving half his sentence. It really struck me just how much Oliver Munson touched people's lives. When that colleague of his at the high school said many years after the fact when he would run into old students or they would contact him the first thing they would ask about would be Oliver. |

What infuriates me about his case is the fact that police knew that certain witnesses who were going to be testifying against Denis Watson had a way of "mysteriously" turning up missing or dead....why didn't police have someone protecting or keeping a closer eye on Oliver?

Absolutely, our justice system boggles the mind. How much more obvious can you get, when your witnesses "mysteriously" disappear? Poor Oliver was just next in line. It is touching to see how many people were really affected by this man. May he rest in peace. |

There's been several threads about Oliver, so I'm not sure why nothing came up in your search Kamy.
I believe Watson killed Munson. The unfortunate irony is that Munson wouldn't have had to testify after all, as I think Watson plea bargained or something. I've always wondered how it happened though. Munson was in his car. The only thing that I can think of is that Watson was in the car to begin with when Munson left for work, or he got him when Munson pulled over for a stop sign or something. Wasn't his car located a few blocks from his home? |

Yeah, his car was found real close to his home with a light spatter of blood and a video store rental receipt.

Wasn't a second car involved in Munson's abduction? A man had reported to the police that his car was stolen. When the stolen car was found by the police, the bullet and Munson's video rental receipt were found in THIS car. Munson's car was found at a separate location.
The morning of the abduction, perhaps Dennis Watson was stalking Munson and knew what time he left for work in the morning, stole a car and followed Munson. While at a stop sign, Dennis Watson came up to Munson's car door with a gun & told him to get out of the car & get into the stolen car. Then they drove to a secluded location and Oliver Munson was shot. That's my opinion as to what happened to Oliver Munson. |
