Was Dolph Sweet anything like his character, Carl Kanisky? Was he also no-nonsense, hard-nosed, tough, and rugged?

I don't know anything much about his personal life. I know that as a whole, he did play tough characters. I would suppose that had much to do with his appearance and strong presence. Maybe someone else can provide more.

Like his alter ego, Dolph Sweet was a no-nonsense man. He was actually quite brilliant. According to various websites/search engines, Dolph Sweet went to college in New York and Alabama. He was a drama teacher at Barnard College. He loved to read books. In an early April, 1983 TV Guide article, he seemed to be a perfectionist. According to a 1975 soap opera magazine I came across, Mr. Sweet could sing in three octaves. He also encouraged his wife to take college courses. He also served in the U.S. Air Force and was a POW. That's pretty much all the information I have. If anyone else has any more information, please feel free to share.

he also had very neat handwriting judging by the autographed index card that i have in my collection
