Default Chief's favorite daughter?

Do you think the Chief had a favorite daughter? There's no question that he loved all three of his daughters dearly, but if I had to bet I would say Samantha was his favorite. Samantha was the classic little daddy's girl, and she and the Chief did a lot of things together and liked the same things. She was a tomboy, and I think the Chief felt like he could relate to her more than the others. There are some very touching scenes between Samantha and the Chief. He just seemed to have a special feeling for her. He loved the other two, but he absolutely adored Samantha.

I don't think he had a favorite daughter. I know the Chief and Sam had more in common, but I don't think he preferred her over Katie and Julie.

He said that Julie was his favorite because she thought just like him.

I agree. I don't think he had a favorite either. It's true that in the episode "Monkey See, Monkey Do" (Season 4), the Chief told Julie that she was always his favorite because she thought just like him. However, at that point, Julie was the only daughter left in the house after Katie and Samantha bolted to the apartment. Besides, I saw more touching scenes with Katie and the Chief and Samantha and the Chief, than I ever saw with Julie and the Chief. I believe that the Chief loved his daughters equally, but differently. He had a special bond with Katie because she was the firstborn daughter. Samantha was a tomboy when she was younger, so the Chief liked that he was able to play catch with her and attend sporting events and go bowling with her; until Joey came along and Samantha grew up. Then, Joey became the son that the Chief never had. The Chief loved Julie for her intelligence and common sense. That's just my humble opinion.

That is a good question. I am torn betwee Sam and Julie. I believe the Chief loved all of his girls equally, but had a bigger bond with Sam and was on more like terms with Julie. I think Katie gives him too many problems.

Samanatha, because she was the baby. It seemed like he showed more favortism towards her.

Thumbs up

The Chief loved all three girls equally.

I remember many scenes of the Chief being angry at Katie (IUD, the Jock, the Stealer). I think Katie was more like her mother, and the chief realized that and always wanted the 'best' for her so that she wouldn't make mistakes later in life. To me, this is love, for both his deceased wife and his daughter katie. This does not signify or imply that he loved Katie more.

One thing for sure, the Chief never showed favoritism towards any of his daughters when it came to discipline. He was as hard on one as he was on the other. It was very refreshing that he didn't expect more out of one than he did the other. For instance, he knew that Katie wasn't the brightest of his three daughters yet he encouraged her to take the college entrance exam, go to college, and get a good job. He believed in his kids and pushed them to do their best. The Chief didn't discipline one any more than the other. If one needed punishment, she got it, regardless of which one it was. Even though Samantha was the baby she got punished if she needed it.

I think his favorite was Katie. Even though they argued alot because he didn't approve of many of her boyfriends and how she dressed, there was always a special connection between them.
