Default Wasn't Mel too old to be living like a slob?

His apartment was filthy. I know he was a bachelor, but to be a slob at 20 is understandable, but at 50?! Mel was a mature enough male to be a little bit more neat than he was.

Are you kidding!? My dad is 60 and he's one of the biggest slobs I know!! (Sorry Dad, you know I love you, but it's the truth).

I see your point Kool. He must have just been one of those lazy dudes who figures "why make the bed"? or "I'll get to it later." Man, I am lucky I never met a man who was like that. All the guys I ever knew kept things clean. That is a sign!

I also noticed that Alice had a much bigger and nicer place than Mel. No wonder he was struggling! LOL

Flo lives in a small trailer, so it's very cramped. I don't know if it was even shown more than once, but it did have a funny scene in it on "The Principal of the Thing" (also the first episode where we finally get to see Bubba). Vera's apartment is first shown in the episode "Vera's Broken Heart". Both should be coming up soon, as they're both 3rd season episodes (3rd season starts on Wed of this week). Vera's is one big room (with perhaps a kitchen and bathroom separately, but I don't recall them ever showing anything but the main room), with one of those loft style beds in it (like college students typically have in their dorm)

Mel's Diner couldn't have been that profitable by judging on how his apartment looked. Most business owners have their own house, Mel lived like he was an employee.

Sounds like Vera had a studio! I'm guessing it's nowhere as nice as the studio apartment at 119 N. Weatherly, Minneapolis, MN.

Aside from his regulars, the place was always half empty.

Yes it was. The Jerry Reed episode, was probably the most crowed.

Why does that surprise you? Most men are slobs anyway, no matter how old they get. My mom picked up after my father their whole married life together, and he was well over 50 when he passed away. Face it, men are meant to be slobs.
