I don't think they ever revealed how, they just kept it a mystery . . . unless there's still a missing clip out there-lol

Arrrrgh! That was such a cop-out!

I guess we're just left to assume that a customer arrived Tuesday to let them out? What about having to go to the BATHROOM within 48 hours??

I want closure!! lol

This episode aired yesterday (30 May), and I missed the part where they got out. I remember the old lady had a key to the storeroom and she came in to use the phone. I left the room, and don't know what happened after that. Sorry.

I can only assume that the old lady had a change of heart and opened the door. Why would Mel do business with Esther again after it was revealed that she was a thief?!?

I really hate it when writers make characters act stupider than they usually would for the sake of a plot line.

If you owned a diner, installed indestructible locks on all entrances into your storeroom, your entire staff is in the storeroom, would YOU leave the keys in your toolbox in the kitchen? I know I wouldn't---I would make sure I had the keys on me "just in case".

And Vera with the phone...I LOVE Vera, she was always my favorite when I was a little boy, but even I was exasperated with her when she hung up the phone after the dance lesson offer called. If you are trapped in a room with no way out, you can't call out on the phone (which seemed like a pretty contrived plot device), and someone calls, it's only natural the first thing you think when the phone rings is, "We can get help!" and tell WHOEVER it is what's wrong.

And how could 4 grown adults think of splitting an M&M 4 ways and NOT realize it will fly off the table??

And how could 4 grown adults also stand by and watch a slow, little old lady leave through their ONLY WAY OUT and not stop her or run for the door?? Jeez!

Writing characters as "extra stupid" just for a plot line really annoys me.

I posted on your other thread Brian my sentiments abt that.

Also, remember when that old lady (what is it with old ladies?) that was eating for FREE at the diner. Alice sure made it clear that the lady should pay Mel for all that food she ate for free since she had all that money in the bag...WHY DIDN'T ALICE TELL THAT OLD LADY SHE NEEDED TO PAY MEL IMMEDIATELY FOR THE FOOD AND FREE PHONE CALLS? Forget Alice, MEL SHOULD HAVE BEEN ON HER A$$ IMMEDIATELY!!!!

I also thought it was funny how Linda Lavin was dressed for the storeroom scenes. With those pig tails and jeans rolled up above her ankles, she looked like she was impersonating an 8 year-old!

I noticed she had that look a few times. Most recently in the Desi Arnaz episode.
