Hey! I know I haven't posted in a while but I wanted to know what you guys think of this case.
It involved a woman by the name of Tricia Meuli (forgive me if it's misspelled), who was attacked while jogging late at night in Central Park, and about 30 (supposedly) young black and hispanic teens with about 5 of them having been singled out. Kharey Wise, Yusef Salaam, Kevin Richardson, Antron McCray, and Raymond Santana. To this day, there are those who believe the boys (now men) were coerced into making certain statements regarding the rape in which were false. They were basically forced to implicate themselves. But I have no idea. I must say the teen who stood out the most was Kharey Wise. If you've ever seen this particular case on AJ, all but Yusef Salaam's videotaped confession is displayed. As I watched Kharey Wise's confession, I began to realize that he wasn't all there. Some of what he said was hard to understand, as if he mumbled. It's possible that he's mentally challenged and it shines through as he explains what had taken place that fateful night in the park. He's changed his story numerous times and he even claimed that he was abused by police during his interrogation, but that claim is quite hard to believe considering his constant lies. He had an IQ of about 78 (I believe he was the most vulnerable because of this), a second-grade reading level, and a record of truancy. Even today as an adult, he appears afflicted mentally. Another young teen (now an adult) by the name of Matias Reyes had confessed to the rape but ironically, he's in prison for another crime rather than the rape. |

Well, it seems that Reyes' DNA matched the semen found on the victim.
