How come Mel and the gang couldn't call out for help? - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

They were locked in that room, the phone rang and vera hung up. Unless I missed as to why they couldn't call out, wouldn't it have made sense to call the fire department or something?

Is this the episode where Mel got pissed at someone making long distance calls? Didn't he put a stop to that? I haven't seen the episode since I am on the west coast, but I am trying to remember the episode.

Mel put a lock on the phone so no one could call out without using the key. He left the key out in the Diner-lol

I noticed Vic tayback almost laughing when snapping at the guys while locked up in that room-lol

Mel shouldn't have had to pay that old lady for the pies since she made long distance calls on his phone.
