Default Mark Cuban & Co. looking to start league to rival NFL

Oh brother! The NFL has been around forever and the Arena Football League has been around more than 20 years. Why do we need another professional football league? Here's the link:

http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/6...PHCP&GT1=10035

All other existing football leagues are primarily developmental or minor leagues. Arena Football's season runs between March and July while the NFL runs between September and February. These two leagues hardly ever compete against each other, because they have their respective seasons at different times of the year. Football is football, and these two leagues are enough for me. We don't need another competing league to compete against either of the two I've mentioned. Mark Cuban, go back to running the NBA's Dallas Mavericks and just leave pro football alone.

You're 20+ years late, mentioning Arena Football. The other two you've mentioned came and went. Arena Football still exists-in fact, it's the only football league with a minor league system. NFL owners have already gotten involved with that league as well. However, the NFL is still the big dog in the yard, although Arena Football now plays second banana. Mark Cuban needs to give up his ambitions on starting a competing league-it'll never work.

I know arena football still exists and that the others are long gone. What I was trying to say is that none of these have ever measured up to the NFL.

True, Arena Football doesn't measure up to the NFL, but it's a different kind of football, namely and primarily two-way players. The NFL is still king.

You can't compete against the NFL, not in this day and age. Too much tradition, too much fan support. Hell, let NBA, MLB, and NHL try to compete against the NFL and see what happens. In this so-call rival league, what would their version of the Superbowl be called?
