Default Finally! A Decent Ad-Blocker For IE!

Guys,

I finally discovered a decent Ad Blocker for IE It's really similar to Ad Block+ for Firefox with a couple of differences. Not that this is a different program than a pop-up blocker. Ad Block+ stops annoying banner ads and Flash Ads on a page. It should work on both IE 6 and IE 7. (It's just a small plug-in that you can uninstall if you don't want it.)

Here are some tips for users:

A reminder for users of AdBlock+ for IE: You may need to turn it off for trusted sites:

Just right-click for ANY Site that you want to disable Add-Block+ on and check disable on (site name. Not disable Adblock +, just turn it off on the site name. You should do that for the big trusted sites you go to and the major search engines like Yahoo, Google, and MSN. You can also add the site by clicking on the plug in icon, selecting Add, than enter the site name.) You can choose to allow all content to be accepted (i.e Whitelist) or Block Content. Nice Plug in. But turn it off for sites that you really trust. Otherwise, you may inadvertently be blocking good content.

If you have trouble in the new or old Yahoo Mail when you get to the log in screen. Right click and select "Disable on Yahoo Mail site" , or whatever it says. Than either refresh the page or log out and log back in again. You should than be fine.

Download it here:

If you have IE7, I highly recommend IE7Pro.

From the website - "IE7Pro includes Tabbed Browsing Management, AD Blocker, Flash Block, Super Drag Drop, Crash Recovery, Proxy Switcher, Mouse Gesture, Tab History Browser, Web Accelerator, User Agent Switcher, Webpage Capturer, Greasemonkey like User Scripts platform, User Plug-ins and many more power packed features. You can customize not just Internet Explorer, but even your favorite website according to your need and taste using IE7Pro."

I actually looked at that,

But with all of the features I was concerned that the software might be a little TOO INTRUSIVE and block things that I wanted or needed to run. If you want to do more tinkering around, Chris' suggestion might be a good alternative. If you want something a little simpler, go with my plug-in. The only problem that I had is that on some drop down forms/forums that are produced by V Bulletin, you have to disable for that site, because sometimes the drop-down boxes may not work if you don't do that. I WOULD NOT however get both plug ins, because one might work against the other and you don't want that, because it could slow down your system too much.

That's good. Users now have a choice of a "basic" or "advanced" option.

Update: Too intrusive and blocked other good content. Filtering was a problem and sometimes the program would crash when filters were added. Only the first version released, so have uninstalled for the time-being.

I hate IE, it's evil. Every time I use it I get a virus. I used to get viruses all the time and then I started using firefox and went a long time before getting a virus again.
