Default Darrin and Samantha's parents

Sorry if there has been a thead on them but I just wanted to look at their parents and how they interacted with their son/daughter and inlaw.

Darrin and Samantha's mothers clearly don't approve of their pair up but Endora is much more likable and understandable than Darrin's mom was.

Endora did not like that her daughter was married to a mortal and hated that he did not want Samantha to use her magic. Did not like Endora's meddleing but her reasons were understandable. Darrin's mother was not likable at all. I remember that episode where Serena turned her into a cat (which was appropriate). What bugged me (and Serena) was her badmouthing Samantha. Badmouthing someone to their kin is stupid.

Now their fathers. Samantha's dad Maurice was certainly a force to be reckoned with. He was either an only child or the eldest. Loved how he recited Shakespeare or some other well known author.

Darrin's father Frank was very nice also. He seemed to be the only one who did not have a problem with Darrin and Samantha's marriage.

It was always entertaining when the parents were on. Darrin's mother was seen a a controlling smothering mother type--and what were those 'sick headaches' really all about? Darrin's father was more likable and seemed to flirt with his daughter-in-law a bit.
The trouble with Sam's parents was that if they were mad at you, you could end up anywhere, as anything! They both seemed to hate Darrin. At one point Sam's father was going to kill Darrin and both Sam and Endora had to plead with Maurice to take it down a notch. I think he ended up stuck in a mirror. Never dull, never boring.

I liked the fact that Frank and Endora seemed to hit it off, making for more fun and adding fuel to Phyllis' "sick headache" fire.

I always got a kick out of Frank. He was so nice, and he'd be a lot of fun at a party. Yes, Phyllis was a pain but I enjoyed her "sick headaches" line.

Check out the episode from the first season called, Samantha Meets The Folks. It's where Sam meets her in-laws for the first time. Great show with Aunt Clara, who tries to help Sam impress her Mother-in-law. Mother Stephens thought she wasn't going to be needed any longer. You chould see how her character changed cause at the end of the show she seemed to accept Sam and in the color shows she becomes unlikeable again.

Those were some great episodes, Phyllis didn't know what to make of Endora.

Phyllis wasn't too bad in the first 2-3 seasons, but by the fourth season she was horrible!! I think Phyllis was jealous of Sam, that's why she was always trying to find fault with her. I think Darrin had the better mother-in-law!!
