Italians Outraged by Barbra Streisand Ticket Prices - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

In a country that loves opera as much as anything else, Italian consumer groups were outraged over the price of Barbra Streisand tickets which were going for as high as $1,210. The lowest ticket price was $295.4.

Calling the prices "absurd and shameful," the Codacons and Adusbef groups requested that the singer not be allowed to perform in the Flamingo Stadium, which is publicly owned. They said it "cannot be used for contracts that are immoral and which heap shame on a civilized country".

When compared with one of Italy's favorite entertainment spot, Milan's La Scala opera house, they are much higher, prices there being $269.

The groups have sent requests to the city government of Rome, which owns the stadium, and the Italian Olympic committee which runs it, to deny Streisand and her 58-piece orchestra access to the facility, which holds around 25,000 people.

If you've ever heard the catcalls concerning performers they don't approve of, if this goes on, you'll probably see enough to keep her from singing.

This would be the first stop on her European tour.
