Ok, she threatened to call the police. What could they do? It was a civil matter, not a criminal matter. The baby crying passed a certain hour, could be charged as disturbing the peace, but Mrs. Trumbell threatened "if that baby cries once more, I will send for the police." Then again, this was the 50's...am I wrong?

I think she was so desparate to get some sleep, she threatened with calling the police. All they would have done is come out, talk to everyone and say "try to keep it down." What else could they do with a baby, get rid of it? She was bringing up the subject of violating the lease agreement, but remeber, she broke the "no pet clause" by having a cat and even asked Lucy to buy her a can of All-Pet.

The one redeeming feature of this episode is when Mrs. Trumbull comes around and falls in love with Little Ricky, saying in that famous scene in the rocking chair, "Mrs. Ricardo, you should be ashamed of yourself, running off and leaving this poor little child alone. Don't you worry, dear, you'll always have me around to make sure that nobody leaves you alone again."

Little Ricky looked more lovingly at Mrs. Trumbull than he ever did at Lucy. And by making that statement, Mrs. Trumbull was doomed to babysit Little Ricky forever at the drop of a hat! Maybe that serves her right for wanting to sick the cops on a baby to begin with!

I always loved Mrs. Trumbull, she always seemed so sweet and caring...starting with the end of this episode, that is.

I saw that episode the other day. That was a sweet ending. I recognized Mrs. Trumbell from somewhere. Was she a character actress, and how old was she? Good Lord, she must have been born in 188??

She was actually born in 1875! She was almost 80 when she played Mrs. Trumbull. I know what you mean, she looks familiar. She played in movies and was on Broadway, but I can't place her.
