Default "Lost" lost viewers from 2006

The "Lost" season finale fell double digits compared to last year. "Lost" (13.7 million, 5.8/15) was beaten by "Idol" between 9 p.m. and 10 p.m. although it gained viewers and in adults 18-49 after 10 p.m. But it was down 23% in viewers and 24% in adults 18-49 compared to last year's season finale May 24 (17.8 million, 7.6/18). And it fell even further compared to the first-season finale (from 8-10 p.m. on May 25, 2005) that averaged 20.7 million viewers and a 7.8/19 in adults 18-49.

I hate American Idol. The local FOX channel had coverage on their news at 6 and then they had a pre-coverage show at 7:30. They treated it like the Super Bowl.

Tell me about it, my Fox Station in NYC did the same thing.

Regarding Fox, what a waste of airtime.

My boyfriend used to watch LOST. It lost many a viewers by going to 10pm.

Not only that, but going on a long hiatus as well.

True. One reason I have lost interest in Prison Break. I can't stand that crap. I miss the good ol' days of television when a NEW SEASON meant at least 6 months of new episodes without any break whatsoever.

I couldn't believe LOST already was showing their finale. How many episodes did they have for this season?

They had a full load, but it just seemed short because of the forgotten fall episodes. I do hate waiting, but it will be worth it when the time comes.

They had 6 episodes to start out the season and then didn't come back until early in the air. The first 6 episodes only mainly concerned 3 people so they lost a lot of fans when they did that. It's to bad because the last half of this season has been great.

As for Prison Break they started back in August so I just taped those shows and then played them each week when September came around. I was always behind what the rest of the country was watching but I had less of a break. I played the first half of the season right up to about Christmas.

Actually people have been DVR-ing Lost. Because when the 7 day ratings come in, Lost is near 17-18 million, which is what it was doing in the fall.

Next season when it returns, it will air 8 or 9pm, and that will really help.

If you can add millions on because of DVR, Tivo, etc, then can't you do you the same with the last couple of seasons too. It's all relative, isn't it.

Lost's DVR rating was off the roof this season (#1 DVRed show of the season). The first two seasons maybe 1 million or so would be added on after seven days. This season it was doubled, and some episodes more than tripled of that.

That may be true, but still there's no denying that Lost has lost millions of viewers from season to season.

Maybe it has, maybe not. Adding the DVR stats really makes it even to last season. I'm sure many fans will catch up with the third season DVD this fall because the next season won't start until February, but it will be 16 straight episodes.

The third season DVD, as of now, is slated to come out in October. So fans can catch up with season three in plenty of time. That's another thing, Lost is the #1 selling TV DVD.

So, Lost's season finale was down 4 million from last year's finale, but when the DVR's is added in, it'll be close to last season's. Oh, and what about American Idol? Where is the thread saying that finale was down? Its finale was down 6 million from last season's.

Absolutely it has. ABC did a lot to hurt this show. It may be DVR'd, that just means to me people don't put it on a priority as other shows.
