A couple interesting things I noticed.
First, the videotape was found exactly one year to the day that the fire had been set. We don't learn this until the update of course, but what an odd coincidence. I wonder if Beavis and Butthead intentionally "released" the tape on this day as some sort of odd clue; Clearly, an unintentional cry for help regardless of their intended meaning. Second, for those of you who have seen the NBC version, did you notice that the name of the family who found the tape was changed for the Lifetime version? I won't say the name as I can imagine it was changed for legal or privacy reasons. But yeah, it was different. |

Well I never really bought that the vhs tape was found by coincidence. Its just a little too convenient that it was laying out by the road. Plus knowing that this was some teenager it would make sense to me that he wanted attention. Its not likely that he went to all the trouble to videotape the fire and go through all his chanting on there if he were going to be the only one to watch it. I think he was so proud of himself he wanted to share the tape with the world.
I did notice that about the last names JS. They must have saw their actual names when it initially ran and requested UM change that. I can't say I blame them though as then no one had been arrested yet. |

The case of the arsonist is on Crystal´s volume#2, after a "similar" case (Clarence Roberts: 2 deaths, 2 fires). I really don´t know if this version is from NBC or Lifetime, but it includes an update with the arrest of two teenagers. I think the case was profiled, back in April, on Cold Case Files, where they showed the main suspect and his friend in costumes. They really look funny to say the least. Unbelieveable that these "kids" were responsible for the Omar tape, that, I´m positive, scared a lot of us , when we first saw the case featured on UM.
I like both of your avatars kamy and ididn'tdoit : "Sam" from the Beverly McGowan case, one of the scariest composite sketches so far. The authorities claim that "Sam" was also Elaine Parent (the main suspect in Beverly McGowan´s murder), but Michael McGowan, Beverly´s nephew, who has posted in this forum, is adamant that there was one male accomplice who hasn´t been caught. By the way this case is on Crystaldawn´s Volume #3 collection, and on the banned video site thanks to a guy called jpenn. Thanks so much Crystal, and thanks to you jpenn whoever you are. |

Hey! There's nothing wrong with picking up a sex tape by the side of the road and assuming that it was going to be a sex tape....
![]() That being said, I never noticed that the names changed. Interesting. I wonder why. ...and Kamy, your avatar is FREAKY. (aka Nice work!) |

That would be a bit freaky though, as I remember the reconstruction didn't he put the tape in with his family sitting watching with him? it could have been anything on that tape

LOL yeah in the re-enactment they were all sitting around like it was gonna be family movie night or something. I wonder if they listened to the satanic heavy metal audio tapes too? Maybe there was some residue left in the mortar and pestle, "the kind used in satanic rituals"

I just thought of something ... in the video, the friend of OMAR says of the firemen: "What a laugh!" ... as in, "your lights are a laugh" ... now, I'm admittedly from down south, but that's not a common expression in my opinion. Could the cops have unknowingly found the Wackers' tormentor as well?!?
