Whats Wrong with Vera? Diagnose Her. - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

Wow I used to watch this show back in the mid 1970's when I was 8 years old. I cant believe I forgot about the show until ION started showing it.

I forgot how insanse Vera was???

If I had to describe her or Diagnose her.

In 2 ways:
1) She was abused as a child by her father
2) Struck by Lighting

What a weird character... You NEVER see a character written or performed like this anymore in comedies?? So weird???

I think some of the weirdness was rubbed off on Beth from her former Husband (Michael J. Pollard) He's played some weird characters also.

She could have been dropped on her head as a child.

I think that she probably led a sheltered life with her family and she is just probably experiencing everything for the first time and it is new to her. You notice in the later seasons she is stronger. She is probably just fragile.

I agree with m_campbell, and I would also say she suffers from severe anxiety, and depression.
