Default Was there really an UNfunny show?

You know, I can't think of a single UNfunny episode of the Golden Girls. The show had the some of the best writing ever. People jab me for watching it because I am a guy, but I don't care. If the writing is witty and funny I will watch anything. I remember watching Golden Girls on Saturday nights when I was 3 (1985) and continued to enjoy it to this day. I now have the complete series on DVD and I am enjoying it. I can get passed the couple of season 5 episodes with the minor edits in it, because 2 out of 174 ain't bad. Anyway. Love this show.

The only episode I find hard to watch is "Empty Nest" the attempt at a spin off which never even came to fruition. The Empty Nest that eventually made the airwaves was much better

I don't think there were any unfunny shows (except the "Empty Nest" pilot).

However, the show with Phil's death and with Dorothy's Chronic Fatigue definitely had more serious moments than other "serious" episodes.

I liked the Empty Nest pilot.....I also did watch Empty Nest however. LOL!

But I don't think there was a single episode of Golden Girls where I didn't laugh!!!!

It did have it's serious moments, like someone brought up, Dorothy's battle with chronic fatigue syndrome, Rose's heart attack, etc. But even then, there were funny/triumphing moments: When Dorothy tells off that @$$ of a doctor, and when they all attend the high school reunion under aliases in the latter episode.

The thing about this show, and I believe the same about Three's Company and I Love Lucy, is that the comedy transcends and will transcend generations. It's one of those shows that everyone loves to watch, and that everyone can get at least a few laughs out of. I think the comedy is timeless, meaning that this show will always be funny!!

At first I Never liked that episode, but I have come to enjoy it a lot. It's not my favorite, but it's good one.

The one where Sophia's friend wanted to committ suicide was sad. But at the same time they had the counterpart where the other girls were babysitting a baby. I at the part where the 3 of them are singing and Sophia comes out of her bedroom giving them a look and teling them that they stink!!!

I am a huge fan of this show. I started watching it in the 90's when I was in middle school and still enjoy it to this day. It's one of those shows that will never get old. I have Seasons 1-4 on DVD and I can't wait to get the rest. Long live the Golden Girls. We love you Bea, Betty, Rue and Estelle!

Well, certainly there were better episodes than others, but (other than the "EN" ep.) the Golden Girls always delivered laughs. I liked the more 'darker' eps. because they educated people on real-life issues.

Default love this show

Yeah, I'm a guy as well, and really don't care what my friends say.. The writers on this show did an EXCELLENT job! The next best writting show in my book would be Will & Grace and Friends.. but this show is classic! I remember watching it when my grandma babysat me.. just loved this show!!

I came on here to see if anyone had the complete series on dvd, but can't seems to find it.. so ebay, here I come!

These are the episodes that I skip (according to season) - but by NO means does that mean that they are not funny, they are just not to my liking:

Season 01: "Big Daddy."

Season 02: "Vacation," "Love, Rose," "Before and After," "Son-in-Law Dearest," "Empty Nests."

Season 03: "Nothing to Fear But Fear Itself," "Letter to Gorbachev," "Blanche's Little Girl."

Season 04: "Yokel Hero," "Fiddler on the Ropes."

Season 05: "Mary Has a Little Lamb," "Great Expectations," "Triple Play," "Cheaters," "The Mangiacavallo Curse Makes a Lousy Wedding Present."

Season 06: "Feelings."

Season 07: "Where's Charlie?"

I agree. This is the only episode that I won't watch if it is shown on Lifetime. It just doesn't gel with the rest of the episodes and the actors in this episode didn't even make it into the real Empty Nest show!

The only one that I find "Unfunny" was the one where they get the winning lotto ticket and end up spending the night at the homeless shelter. Excellent eppi, Great message. But, really not funny.
