Default Wow the NHL has hit ROCK BOTTOM anytime NBC decided to............

Leave the OT tim of Buffalo/Ottawa to show the Pregame of the Preakness-lol Damm how pathetic is that? A Network decided to switch from a OT Game in the Playoffs that was still that was still in Progress.

NHL-1.2 million Viewers

Preakness-5 million viewers

LOL-Info from ESPN' PTI

As exciting as the Buffalo/Ottawa game was, it was a ratings nightmare. The numbers for the hockey were a 0.9 rating and 2 share. . At 5pm, when NBC switched to the Preakness, the ratings went to a 4.4 rating and a 10 share.

...For reference, Mama's Family on Ion does about a 1.0.

Solomon, NHL does worse on NBC afternoons in the regular season. The Stanley Cup Finals will be lucky enough to get a 2.0 rating this season.

Hockey will never do well in the US on television. I'm not sure what else they can try to get viewers. It's a game that is better to see in person.. sad when you get beat by the Arena Football League, but it's not like NBC is paying anything for the rights.

I wouldn't be surprised if NBC passed on an Ottawa/Anaheim final and gave it to Versus.

What is this "Hockey" that you speak of? Is it a game?

The lowest rated sitcom. Even All of Us beats it.

Hockey is and will always be a regionalized sport, especially in the US. I would also say basketball and baseball are also regional sports. Only football is considered a national sport.

But if bashing a sport that I love makes insecure people feel better about themselves, well just go on ahead.

I also forgot to mention to Pavanbandal, you work for ABC don't you? You would bash anything on a competing network, wouldn't you?

I bashed the NHL's rating when it was on ABC. I was very embarrassed by those ratings. After ABC gave it up, I never thought a broadcast network would pick the NHL up...and NBC did. Go figure.

I guess Americans wont enjoy hockey until its " Shoot score, shoot score, shoot score....last shot wins!"< As in the NBA.........Frankly, i couldnt care LESS wether or not the USA loves hockey, if all the hockey teams in the USA folded, and the NHL head office came back to Montreal where it originated 90 years ago, that would be fine with ME.....You dont want hockey? Fine, give it back to Canada where it belongs! We LOVE it!!!

ohh and one more thing, no WONDER the ratings are so low...hockey is a NIGHT game......not supposed to be played at 3 pm ( if you ever had nothing to do on a cold Canadian winter night, youd understand! ) Anyway, hockey is the BEST sport there is! ( Baseball and Football are SO dull, and the NBA is just a "hotdog" league: its all about stars, and not about teamwork! )

Please don't include the NFL in your argument
