I heard there was another episode where a teacher of Thelma's comes to the apartment to have dinner with the family. The teacher brings a meat dish and everyone thinks it's cat food. They keep passing it around the table saying "You first!"
Which season did this episode air?

It was actually dog food & if I recall correctly, She admitted that she did at times eat dog food but told the Evans family that she would never serve it to her friends. I was also thinking that it was one of the neighbors, An elderly lady but it's been years since I've seen it.

It was a neighbor, Mrs. Gertie. She ate dog food occasionally because of the high cost of food and her little income on social security. One of my fave scenes is the dinner table scene when J.J. is asked to say prayers and he says, "The Lord is MY GERMAN SHEPARD"...

Yes, it was one of the neighbors. It's been so long since I've seen some of these episodes, I've gotten them mixed up!
"The Lord is my GERMAN shepherd..." That's a Freudian slip if I ever heard one. ![]() Thank you Irene and Charles!!
