Default Sitcoms that dealt with rape

I was just curious as to which shows dealt with rape/molestation. I know about the two episodes from "All In The Family" but that seems to be the only show that crosses my mind.

I'm pretty sure that subject was dealt with on Facts of Life. There was also an attempt on Wojo (dressed in drag for park detail) on Barney Miller (Season 2, "Heat Wave").

The Diff'rent Strokes episode starred Gordon Jump as a pedophile bicycle shop owner who sexually molested Arnold's best friend, Dudley.

For a minute there I thought you wrote Forrest Gump.

On Facts of Life (Season 3, "Fear Strikes Back"), Natalie is returning to the dorm after a party alone and is grabbed by a man who tries to attack her. She gets away unharmed but becomes increasingly afraid to go outside again. It's available on the third season DVD.

Also on Facts of Life, in the first season with Jo, she gets "assaulted" by the guy she goes to the cotillion with. He thinks that Jo would be a "homerun".

All In The Family-Twice, once where Gloria gets attacked when she walks past a construction site, and the second time when Edith gets attacked on the day of her 50th Birthday party. Both powerful episodes.

A Different World did as well. There was an episode called "No Means No" where this guy named Garth tried to rape Freddie in his car, but Dwayne came in just in time through the sunroof and saved the day.

My whole family hated the ep with Edith. It was just SO down and serious. I know the producers' point, but to us, it was like a story about raping Mother Theresa - just TOO much.

It was one of my favorite episodes, it made me seriously pissed and then I cheered like crazy when Edith got away. I even got choked up when Edith slaps Gloria in part two. There was enough comedy to make you laugh, like when Archie and Mike try to squeeze through the kitchen door at the same time. When trying to had each other the punch bowl and it breaks each tell the other at the same time, "You did it"!

Yah, I know what you mean, there were funny parts, and we did cheer when she got away, but geeeeeez - her birthday and everything. Just creeped me out so much, but again, I suppose that's the whole idea - to really drive home the point of how terrible rape is.

Yes, because back then the rape victim was made out to seem like they asked for it, and it was the hot topic of that time and to show how a victim could be intimidated into not reporting the crime.

That was also the same era that Elizabeth Montgomery's movie A Case of Rape helped change the public perception. Just another way '70s TV broke barriers.
