So...
Has anyone seen any of these? Any opinions? Anything? I hope I'm not the only one who cares.

Personally, I haven't seen any of them, but I will be seeing Spring Awakening and Grey Gardens in July. Still, I hope Grey Gardens wins. And Christine Ebersole for best actress in a musical. And also, I think Charlotte will win for featured actress, only because she's kind of a veteran. But it would complete my life if Rebecca Luker won that. I'm also kind of irritated that Pirate Queen wasn't nominated for anything. It got crappy reviews, but their scenic design and costumes are so much better than Spring Awakening's. And CHOREOGRAPHY. Hello, creators of Riverdance, anyone? So that sucks.

I hope I'm not the only person with an opinion on this.

Thank you for posting this, I really like the Tonys, but I'm always behind on catching the nominees and often miss the show.

So they've made Legally Blonde into a musical now? Sheesh, Broadway really hasn't got any new ideas, do they? The Producers, Beauty and the Beast, The Lion King, Thoroughly Modern Millie... all great shows, but do they all have to be based on movies?

Glad to see Christopher Plummer's up this year. It'd be nice to see him win.

Mary Poppins is up for best musical - well that's deserved. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I seem to remember that Chitty Chitty Bang Bang wasn't nominated when it came out - and, dang it, I was really ticked! That was a WONDERFUL show!

My gripe: why is Audra McDonald always nominated? Why is she in every single show? She's like the Scarlett Johanson of Broadway. I mean, Audra can sing and she's a good enough actor, but what is the fuss? I'd much rather see Bernadette onstage again than anything McDonald's doing.

Yeah, you're definately not the only one with an opinion on this

Oooh, I just saw Jennifer Ehle's nominated! Yes! Definately rooting for her, and Swoosie Kurtz.

I think I want "A Chorus Line" to win best revival. I only saw them perform at the Thanksgiving Day parade, but they looked great and they have a wonderful album out. I can't tell you how surprised I was to see "110 in the Shade" up there! Gosh, the only thing I know about that show is that it was Lesley Ann Warren's first musical. That's it. Haven't got the foggiest notion what it's about.

Looks like "Legally Blonde" and "Mary Poppins" are gonna be the top contenders. Guess I'll root for Mary Poppins, although, I really wish they'd stop turning movies into shows. When I was in London I took a tally - about 99% of the shows were either revivals (Chicago, Fiddler on the Roof, Oklahoma!), originally movies (Thoroughly Modern Millie, Tarzan, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang) or musicals based on rock groups (Movin Out, Mamma Mia!, We Will Rock You) This is the theatre! There's supposed to be some new ideas out there!

Nice observation.

I alway care about this. I haven't seen any of the shows, but I'm always interested in who wins. Plus, I get to watch scenes from the shows.

The Wedding Singer was nominated for best musical last year (or was it two years ago, I dont even know) too...Apparently Legally Blonde is good, though. Laura Bell Bundy is awesome, regardless.

I don't know about the revival. Personally, I hope ACL gets it. But apparently Raul Esparza is doing good things with Company. The Apple Tree went over horribly and it's already closed so I dont think that will even be an issue.

And to the Audra comment. I love her, but she really is everywhere.
