Default An Obvious EDIT in the episode-"That Old Black Magic"

There was something missing because First Alice agreed to cook Mel Dinner and then all of a sudden after the commercials, Mel is seen at Alice Apt laying down because of his bad back-lol So what happen to the DINNER? All we see is Alice bringing Home her Date while Mel was on the Couch-lo Which by the way was REAL DUMB. So something was defintely missingl

Let me quote from the Charter cable box description of tonight's episode:
"Injured Mel moves in with Alice for two weeks."
Now I can see Mel staying at Alice's and laying down - and being propped up. But dang, I seem to be missing the "injured" part.

Good GOD they must've chopped the HELL out of that episode. That's a whole SCENE that's gone-lol. Oh, well. The Magic of Ion editing, I suppose. The only shows I'm taping from Ion are the ones from season 4 and 5 because the shows I have on tape are terrible quality from those two seasons.
Anyway, they all met at Alice's apartment and Mel walks in with his Farrah Fawcett T-shirt. Flo laughs like crazy and jokes with him.

FLO: (still laughing) Well will you look at that Farrah Fawcett T-shirt!

Mel: (smiling) Yeah, I figured she'd be better on my shirt than on my mind.

Tommy tries to get a drink of water from the glass cooler, but it's empty, so Mel agrees to replace it with a new jug.

MEL: (bending down to lift the glass jug) Pay close attention, Tommy. You always lift with the legs, NOT with the back. See? You let the legs do all the work.

TOMMY: You need some help, Mel?

MEL: (tapping his arms) Oh, noooo. (Lifts the bottle, places it in the cooler) There, that's all there is to it. JUST goes to show you what fried cooking does
for the muscles, Thomas.

Tommy tries to get water, but again, nothing comes out.

TOMMY: It's still not working, Mel.

MEL: How come?

FLO: 'Cause he FORGOT to take the TOP off. See, Tommy, that shows you what fried cooking does for the BRAIN.

-lol- Later, when he tries to yank off the top, he strains his bank and lies on the floor.

MEL: (in pain) This sometimes lasts TWO WEEKS.

ALICE: Two WEEKS? Mel's gonna be on my kitchen floor for TWO weeks???

FLO: You gonna get alot of FOOD spilled on you, Mel.

They all end up rolling him to the sofabed on Tommy's skateboard and the rest, as they say, is Ion history-lol.

I am on the west coast, but I will look forward to remembering this scene when I do watch the episode.

They had a commercial for a prescription drug that was a zillion years long. They couldn't possibly have cut out a whole scene just for this, could they? Dang!

I hate it when they cut important scenes...him injuring his back is pretty important to the story Incidently, there's some discrepancy on the title of the episode. I've seen it listed as both "That Old Black Magic" and "That Old Back Magic"...I tend to think the latter is correct, since it's about Mel's back, and alot of times, they modify a movie title or popular saying for episode titles
