Default Tragic Deaths

Besides plagues and illnesses, there were a lot of deaths on LHOP. Here is a list of some characters who were actually killed:

Jack Peters-dynamite explosion
Alice Garvey-fire
Mary's baby-fire
The Coopers-wagon accident
John Jr.-run-over by a wagon
Gambini-fire during a stunt
Sylvia Webb-fall
Ellen Taylor-drowning
Mr. Stark-shot

Also, didn't one of the Younger Brothers eventually die of a gunshot wound?

I don't think one of the Youngers died. I think he was severely wounded only.

Let's not forget the people who died when they ate that tainted lamb meat, forgot what the actual disease was called. But everyone had to go to the church to get better and at the end, they had to burn something inside the church to kill the germs inside.

Also, remember the episode when towards the end Charles and a few others found a barn full of flour and it was covered with rats running all over the sacks of flour. They had to burn that down. I can't recall what disease that caused either. Damn, they had tooooo many diseases running rampant in Walnut Grove. For such a small damn town, they had many deaths.

I recall Miss Beadle (she was married by the time she said this) saying Walnut Grove had a population of just over 100 people. I can't recall (again...) the exact figure.

Also, friggin' Charles Ingalls was forever getting injured. Laura accidently shot him in a hunting accident...Charles fell out of a tree when he took his family out for a picnic and he ended up breaking his ribs...My God! Too many.

Seems to me any male in the Ingalls family was screwed...or any male on this show. Their days were numbered. The Ingalls' first born died as you stated Brian. Mary's baby died. Laura's first born son died soon after birth. Remember the Albert dying episode?

They got typhus from the rat-infested cornmeal and anthrax from the tainted mutton. Yum!

I thought one of the Youngers (or another gang) came into town with one member who was shot. The boss of the gang tried to get the slow brother to shoot the injured one to put him out of his misery and he wouldn't do it.
Then when the boss went to the back room to do it he was already dead.

Walnut Grove may have had a population of about 100 if they counted all the people who "disappeared" after one episode and all the dead people in the cemetery!

In real life, Charles and Caroline did have a baby boy who died, as did Laura and Almanzo. So those episodes at least were rooted in truth. The capper on this show was "May We Make Them Proud" with "Sylvia" running a close second. Both those episodes give me the creeps.

I just saw the episode "The King is Dead," where the wrestler Milos bit the dust.

Let's not forget good ol' Mr. Hansen. The founder of Walnut Grove. He suffered a stroke while the families were living it up in the big city and upon their return, they clean up their little village. We hear in the end of this episode that Mr. Hansen eventually died. Though his death was not tragic, he did suffer obviously after that stroke.

Yes, I realize that. Only pointing out another impending death on LHOTP.

Patricia Neal played the dying mother of 3 kids, who were adopted by Mr. Edwards.

What of the character (can't recall his name) who along with the character played by Shannon Doherty went to live with the Wilders and then he died. I know that isn't LHOTP, but still, it was Walnut Grove.

That was Manly's brother, Royal, who came to town with daughter Jenny.
