Default Does anybody know what actually happened to Judy?

I just remember that one day, out of nowhere, Judy was gone. She was never mentioned, remembered, or flashbacked to again. I heard they wrote her out of the series and didn't even tell her. Anybody got the scoop?

The Judy character was hardly used, and Jaime Foxworth's mother demanded that the Judy character have more screen time and more money. The producers then decided to fire her instead of giving into the demands. As for the character Judy she was just written out, and they acted like she never existed in the first place.

GCW is right. Urkel was really popular and the producers wanted to focus more on him and his antics. Judy got the shaft in the process.

And once again, Steve gets the blame! For the last time, this wasn't Steve's fault! It was the bonehead writers, who couldn't give poor Judy more spotlight!

Steve was created by the writers. We are pointing out what led to her demise and underuse. The show was just too busy and started out with too many regular characters. Eventually, some people were going to have to get cut to save money as the show went on and other charcters getting popular.

Exactly, there was just too many characters and they had stories that either focused on Steve, Laura, Eddie, Waldo etc, or stories that focused on Carl, Harriette Mother Winslow, or Rachel. So Judy basically just became Richie's sidekick because they could not have her hang around Laura and Eddie and their friends and she could not really hang around the adults. But you will notice in season 1 that Laura and Judy were always together that changed in season 2.

But I think Jody should have been given a chance, especially as she got older and Rachel and Estelle more and more disappeared. But instead, they got rid of her just when they could have started using her better.

I agree with you that Judy should have been given a chance. In fact I hear other posters say how useless Judy was but I do defend and say that it was not her fault. With Steve's growing popularity (not blaming Steve!) the writers managed to develop everyone else's character and Judy's character was the only one neglected. They could have at least tried to fit her in but they did not. Yes and you make a good point since Rachel and Mother Winslow were being phased out they could have taken that opportunity to do something more with Judy.

But instead, they developed Myra and Stephan! Well, I like Myra very much, so I won't complain at her, and even though Stephan was boring, he could be tolerable in an episode or two every season. But still, Jody could have been fitted in somewhere too. I mean, they managed to fit Richie in!!!

I'll stand by my earlier Richie comment and if it was no him, Judy could have been developed. Storylines could have focused on sibling rivalry between her and Laura, her getting a boyfriend that Carl didn't like and possibly getting into a cheerleading rivalry.

The potential was there, the writers failed to act on it. Estelle and Rachel could have been reoccuring. Rachel could have been without a child. Estelle could have came to keep Hariette in her place.

The only explanation I could think of is a budget cut from ABC for the show or everyone was beginning to ask for raises and it was not enough to go around. With Steve, many people think he saved Family Matters and kept it around longer than it probably would have lasted without him.

I could deal with Myra but Stephan was just unrealistic. When Steve started that cloning crap, that was the beginning of the end.
