I blame the producers of Family Matters for no great series finale. They had a full seasons worth of shows and their ratings were so low they had to know that getting canceled was a strong possibility, especially after Jo Marie-Peyton quit. The shows after that are just painful to watch.

Here are some soaps that switched networks: Search For Tomorrow ran from 1951-1982 on CBS, then switched to NBC from 1982-1986. Edge of Night originally aired on CBS from 1956-1975, then moved to ABC from 1975-1984. Those are the only shows I can think of at the moment...

I remember those soaps. Edge of night used to come on at 4pm ...the last soap of the day.

Leave It To Beaver switched Networks but ran more than one season before being cancelled. Now you can technically add, Reba, 7th Heaven, and Gilmore Girls which went from WB to CW now getting cancelled.

Grounded for Life and Sabrina switched networks, but it wasn't in their final seasons.

My Three Sons ran for 5 seasons on ABC (1960-65), and then switched to CBS for 7 more (1965-72)!

Punky Brewster moved from NBC after their first and second seasons.

Third and fourth were syndicated.

Silver Spoons and Fame also went into first run syndication after being dumped by NBC.
