Paul Boesch's Houston Wrestling show was legendary.

I will be rebooking 1986 with a few tweaks here and there.

Houston Wrestling is affiliated with the Bill Watts Mid South Wrestling Territory.

In May, Mid South changes its name to the Universal Wrestling Federation and the North American title is dropped in favor of the Universal Heavyweight Championship

Boesch retires from announcing duties and hands over the reigns to Mid South's announce crew

He conducts interviews alongside his nephew Peter Birkholtz

Boesch does still do the weekly booking for tv and house shows with Bill Watts' assistance.

Watts and his crew tape the weekly Houston Wrestling show at the Sam Houston Coliseum.

much like Watts does big supercards at the Superdome, Watts and Boesch book big supercards for Houston's Reliant Astrodome.

Boesch: Hello sports fans and here we are once again welcoming a new year as it is the year 1986. Fans I can promise you myself and Cowboy Bill Watts are hard at work making 1986 even better than '85 was!

Watts: Welcome to another edition of Houston Wrestling and Jim we have a heckuva show lined up

Jim Ross: Indeed as our tv main event will be Ted Dibiase and Dr. Death Steve Williams will face Eddie Gilbert and Dick Murdoch and it will be for the Mid South Tag Team Championship!

Jim Ross: we'll see another tag team bout with Rock N Roll Express facing Gustavo Mendoza and The Libyan, Jim Duggan will collide with The Nightmare, Butch Reed will face Chavo Guerrero, The Fantastics will face Rick Steiner & Taras Bulba, AWA Champ Nick Bockwinkel will be here against Joe Savoldi and in the opener we'll see Terry Taylor and Steve Doll versus Ken Massey and Jeff Raitz.

Jim Ross: welcome back to Houston Wrestling and folks we've not even announced all the matches yet but tickets to that big event at Reliant Astrodome are selling like hotcakes!

Bill Watts: in the next two weeks we'll have more matches lined up but those two matches alone are worth the ticket price! Tickets are fifteen dollars for this big supercard as both NWA and AWA's world champions will be there in competition. Now folks let's go to that VTR of Ric Flair the NWA's champion.

we hear Easy Lover by Phil Collins & Phillip Bailey as we see shots of Ric Flair beating down opponents, we see shots of him with a bevy of beauties at the pool and a discotheque, we see shots of him riding in a limo and him entering his private jet.

Ric Flair: Houston Texas its me The Natureboy haha wooooooooo

Flair: in two weeks I put my NWA World championship on the line against some poor sap who wins the big twenty five thousand battle royal next week on your tv program. You all wish you could be champion but ya can't and heck you ain't even my league hahaha

Flair: heck I may even show up for next week's program

we see Flair smirk at the camera as it goes back to the arena

Bill Watts: a pretty cocky young man and he's gonna have to face some tough competion with whoever wins that big battle royal next week. Not only do they get a NWA World Title shot but they get a check from Mid South Sports for twenty five thousand dollars.

Jim Ross: next week should be a great show. let's get to the next match with AWA's champion Nick Bockwinkel going against Joe Savoldi.

Bill Watts: young Joe Savoldi getting the opportunity of a lifetime as he gets to wrestle the legendary Nick Bockwinkel tonight.

we hear Nobody Does It Better by Carly Simon as Nick Bockwinkel makes his way to the ring as the fans boo him heavily

Bill Watts: Bockwinkel a 2nd generation wrassler and I don't always agree with his tactics but like the song says Nobody Does It Better

Beginning: Bockwinkel just completely overpowers Savoldi as he lays in a beating

Middle: Bockwinkel has Savoldi screaming in pain as is skin has turned several shades of red

End: Bockwinkel hits the "Bombs Away" off the top rope and pinning Savoldi for the win @ 9:42

Bill Watts: Nick really coulda ended things much sooner but all he did was torture young Savoldi

we see Bockwinkel head over to Paul Boesch



Paul Boesch: Mr. Bockwinkel?

Nick Bockwinkel: Paul Boesch I defeated Mr. Savoldi with ease. I mean I come here to Houston Texas and I expect real competition not someone like this snot nosed kid. I still haven't been told who I face at Reliant Astrodome and I want some answers out of that stupid Cowboy at the announce booth.

we see Bill Watts slam his headset down and head over to Paul and Nick

Bill Watts: I'll tell ya what you want real competition how about next week you face a real man in that ring

Nick Bockwinkel: let me guess it'll be someone like Dave Peterson or Sean O'Reilly

Watts: It's gonna be ME!

We see Watts blast Bockwinkel as they brawl all over the interview area

Bill Watts: I'm back at the announce booth and folks you don't wanna miss next week's edition of Houston Wrestling as I'm gonna clobber that Nick Bockwinkel plus the twenty five thousand dollar battle royal to determine who faces Ric Flair at the Astrodome in two weeks.

Bill Watts: Butch Reed one of the top superstars in professional wrasslin and lets go to the ring for the action

Beginning: Butch and Chavo brawl all over the ring and put on a great match

Middle: Butch gains control of the match as he hits piledrivers, german suplexes and backbreakers

Jim Ross: Well Cowboy I think that in order to get a fair match that's what you have to do.

Bill Watts: Eddie showed a lot of talent a couple of years ago and seemed like a nice young man but now he has just turned into this mastermind of evil and deception

Boyd Pearce: their opponents making their way to the ring are the reigning and defending Mid South Tag Champions - Dr Death and Ted Dibiase

we hear Born in the USA by Bruce Springsteen as Doctor Death and Ted Dibiase make their way to the ring as the fans cheer and scream wildly

Bill Watts: Dibiase and Doctor Death are perhaps the top tag team in the nation right now in my opinion.

JR: I'd have to agree

Beginning: This one is a wild all out brawl as both teams cannot stand each other

Middle: The wild match continues as both teams are bloodied

The Masked Superstar runs down with a chair and attacks Dibiase and Doctor while Murdoch and Eddie stomp away at the lifeless men

Bill Watts: what in the hell is Masked Superstar doing here?

We see Gilbert and Murdoch shake hands with Masked Superstar as they leave the ring laughing

the fans are not happy despite the dq win and they pelt Hot Stuff International with trash

Jim Ross: Folks it is absolute mayhem as these fans are not happy at all with what happened

Bill Watts: Jim Ross I'm going to address Hot Stuff International next week on this program

Jim Ross: folks the cowboy is mighty angry and you can bet he will not mince words next week. we'll also see The Cowboy return to the ring against Nick Bockwinkel plus the 25 thousand dollar battle royal to determine who'll face Ric Flair for the NWA Title at the Astrodome.
