Default Ever Meet Anyone Featured on UM?

I'm wondering if anyone on this board has ever met someone that was featured on UM. I know someone had posted here saying they had met Ethel Kidd (before she was murdered). I personally have never known or met anyone that was on UM.

My Grandfather was interviewed by UM. He was one of the original invetigators on the Sharon Kinney case. His segment did not air for whatever reason though.

No, but I'm dying to run into Bob Bean sometime. I would tell him that he was great on Unsolved Mysteries, and he would probably provide me with a few additional laughs. Sorry, I know I keep talking about Bob Bean, but the guy is just that awesome.

I've said this before: In the Dannion Brinkley segment, I knew the victims of the double homicide (very little) that he investigated and I knew the person who killed them (somewhat better--he was my brother's friend and I ran around with the killer's little sister for years..)

TV Bob Weeks alias Charles Stolzenberg (sp)

I knew one years ago very well & if I'm not mistaken he was on the first or second episode. An old friend of mine who had a business in Tucson, Az. , an auto mechanics shop behind his home, became friends with an older guy named Charlie Stolzenberg, or something close to that last name.

Everyone came to just know him as Charlie. He was a quiet, pleasant guy, who for about a year was always at my friends shop watching him work , and talking to customers or whoever happened to be there, including myself many times. He had real long grey hair, wore in a pony tail, always wore a cowboy hat, probably late 50's, early 60's in age. He was very likeable and became good friends with everyone who came by to visit our mechanic friend. One of my best friends here in Tucson used to work as a mechanic with my friend and would pick Charlie up from his apartment everyday to bring him to the shop.

He told me that for many years he worked as an embalmer, and more recently he owned a limo service in Las Vegas that for some reason didn't work out and he had to close. Turns out he supposedly killed his partner in that deal. He seemed so trustworthy that I never thought twice when he offered to keep an eye on my baby daughter one day as she slept, so I could run down the road for about 20 minutes to get parts for my truck that was being worked on. My friend was also there at the time, who was like family to me, My daughter had been cranky and I had finally gotten her to go to sleep and didn't want to wake her, & I was only to be gone a few minutes. I came right back, she was still asleep and I never thought about it again until later when everything came down.

Bob Weeks, or Charlie, my friend, and a few other friends, invented a new kind of ashtray that they all invested in that they named "Snuff-It" (how appropriate because I never thought about that name till now, and I'm pretty sure that Charlie came up with it). Anyway they were waiting to get a patent on it, so they could start producing them. At the time Charlie had just started going out with an ex-girlfriend of mine.

One Thursday afternoon Charlie told us that he needed to run over to San Diego to close out a bank account . He left the next day and was back at my friends by Monday. Later we found out that he actually went there to see a nurse/girlfriend that he knew, killed her, closed out his bank account, was recognized by a bank employee that at the time was well informed of people on the FBI's most wanted list, called them, but he was already gone before anyone could capture him.

Anyway he was back in Tucson for about a week when Unsolved Mysteries aired for the second time, I guess, a story about this guy Bob Weeks who the FBI had been looking for as the suspect of multiple murders over the last 20 years of old girlfriends and ex-business partners. He had been spotted in San Diego the previous week by a bank employee and was suspected of killing a nurse over the weekend. Turns out that about 20 people that he had become friends with over the past year here in Tucson recognized him and called in after seeing the show. FBI helicopters, swat teams, the whole police dept. it seemed converged on my friends house and arrested him when they found him there.

One of the stories I heard later was that he had told a couple of friends of mine who were sitting around talking one day that if he ever had to kill anyone, being an embalmer at one time, he would just cut them up into pieces and get rid of the parts in different ways and would never get caught. At the time nobody thought it to be anything more than just idle talk.

Anyway, He is the only one that I ever knew that was on the show, and that was quite enough.

My sister went to high school with Eddie Rutkowski. He was the actor who played Adam Emery, the Rhode Island killer who was believed to have jumped off the Newport Bridge (his wife's remains were found in the river in 1994, but Adam Emery himself has yet to be found).

Since my sister and Rutkowski knew were classmates, I'm sure I met him at one time or another. But any memories I might have of that are vague, and this was a decade before his guest appearance on UM.

Wow, what a story! Thanks for sharing that with us joemama. Yes I know that Robert Weeks story well. It was on one of what we refer as the "Pre-Stack Specials". I didn't realize he had killed several others but I guess I shouldn't be suprised. The UM segment focused on three women (I believe the first was a wife and other two girlfriends) who all disappeared over a span of 15 years all after having dinner with Robert Weeks. In fact I think they mentioned all three of them were set to break up with him when they disappeared. That is very interesting about him being am embalmer, has anyone been able to confirm that? I didn't know if it could just be a story he made up. Well I guess that could explain why none of the three missing women ever turned up (to my knowledge anyway). I know he was sentenced to prison for murder. Do you know if he is still alive and if so how many years in prison he got?

I used to know Chip Chirimbes, who portrayed the bank president in the Henderson, Nevada bank robbery, the one pulled off by the Trenchcoat Robbers and the female reporter snapped the picture of the getaway car as she drove past in the opposite direction. I noticed the segment is now on YouTube. Chipper is a sports handicapper and might still live here or visit often, but I haven't seen him in a long time.

But of course! You wouldn't want to miss that, now would you? Plus, who else is going to defend me if he sues me for kicking his ass?

Default Matthew McConaughey

I feel like I know Matthew McConaughey, because my wife constantly talks about him. At this point, she pretends I'm him and I pretend she's Shakira and that's why we've been together 11 years.
