I am so confused by the episode, "Mel's Cup" - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

Why did Alice and Flo need the ex con Larry to break into the diner to return that old tin cup??? The show actually shows Alice and Flo having coffee in the diner before the diner opened and BEFORE Mel came in.

I don't think Alice and Flo knew they would have a chance to put the cup on the shelf. What I don't get, is why they felt the need to put it BACK ON THE TOP SHELF. Why not just carry it in their purse and then put it ANYWHERE in the diner?

Another good point that I didn't think about.

Also, why get an ex con involved that is trying to turn his life around. That was very inconsiderate. I can see Flo doing something like that, but not Alice.

My boyfriend was laughing when they offered him ten bucks.

I reminded him how ten dollars was A LOT back then. Remember, gas was so cheap.

THEN, did you notice how Alice tried to give the guy ONLY FIVE DOLLARS? He had to threaten to "tell the whole story" before Flo coughed up the other five dollars!

EXACTLY! Poor guy. Here he is trying to change his life around like you say, he gets conked on the head and tied up by Vera and the nerve of Alice to try and stiff him! THE NERVE!

I guess this was a "Reverse episode" where every character changed roles.
