The Connecticut House

I love the Connecticut house. After all those years, Lucy finally got out of that tiny apartment!

The set for the house doesn't make sense, though. From what I can figure, the set must have been a kind of horse-shoe or round shape. The den is to the right of the front door, but in "Lucy Raises Chickens," when Lucy, Fred and Ethel shoo the chicks back to the den they go to the opposite side of the set toward the fireplace! When they walk from the den to the kitchen, they come out the door, walk passed the front door, the stairs, the fireplace to the kitchen. The den and the kitchen should be on the same wall! When Lucy, Fred and Ethel are sitting at the table drinking lemonade, Ricky comes in the front door and Lucy says "We're in here." He would have seen them because it is one big room.

Where do the stairs go that are in the kitchen? There are no upstairs rooms on that side of the house.

The house changes on the Lucy-Desi Comedy Hour: The kitchen door doesn't go directly to the living room, the fireplace in their bedroom is gone and the scene out of the back window is different.

I also think they use the living room set for "Lucy's Summer Vacation." The fireplace is the same, the windows are in the same place, they put a refrigerator in front of the door and the kitchen door is a side door. In the play on "The Celebrity Next Door," they use it again. The stairs are on the left and they put curtains to cover the fireplace. The living room is not seen again in that episode because it was being used as the play stage.

The set is unique because it shows all the walls (unlike their old set), but sometimes it doesn't make sense!

I have ALWAYS wondered abt the layout of the set, especially during the chicks episode. Simply because of how they walk from one end to the other. I think it is an illusion. It appears it would be a horsehoe shaped set, but I believe it had to be straight simply because of the audience.

Did you like the apartment better? It really does fit the image of "I Love Lucy" better than the house, although I thought some things about the house were cool.

I preferred the Apartment, it's more of what I'm use to seeing.

Since I was young, I have always loved the Connecticut house. I had dreamed abt a house in the country and I imagined that house. It was pretty. Very comfy.

I like the country house too. I wish I have a house like that in the country.
