The trend of advertising during a show is getting out of hand and will probably get worse. How can we stop it?
It was bad enough that the stations put their logo in the corner of the screen the entire time (which ruins taping). Now there are more and more graphics during the first 10 seconds after a commercial. Pictures float by, messages flash across the screen and even sound effects are obscuring the audio of the actual show. Often an important part of the scene is blocked out by a graphic. Don't we get enough bombardment during the commercials? They repeat them over and over during the same show, insulting our intelligience as if we don't notice. The closing credits have already been ruined with shrinking them down so we can't read them just so the station can advertise what will be coming next. It is so annoying. TV used to be free and now we have to pay for it, so why are there more ads? |

I agree. It's horrible.

I agree, it really is bad when you can't read the name of the guest stars at the end because they've shrunk it down so small. And on some stations they cut into the show with promos for the upcoming news show. I hate that.

TV Land likes to move the closing credits to a small corner of the tube while they show previews of something else. That can be aggravating, especially if you want to find out the name of a guest star or something like that and you can't read what it says.

I don't really like it at all. I'll never forget Spike TV's on screen ads (A Man rope walking down the right side of the entire screen) which is the main reason why I stopped watching that channel. I do understand that they make money off the ads though.

I agree that this is annoying as well! It's as if these people running these stations think that viewers are too stupid to know what's coming up next. What's even worse these days is that these same networks even simplify their logo designs to the look that even a 3rd grader can read.
I think these stations seem to care more about the all-mighty dollar and fast ratings than the quality of their shows. |

I strongly agree as well.
TV watching has turned into a less-than-enjoyable experience these days and it'll only get worse.
