GSN messes up the master tapes of 3 Blockbusters episodes from 1982?

Hello. Somehow GSN messed up the tapes of 3 episodes of the Bill Cullen version of Blockbusters and thus they couldn't air them a few weeks ago and and it appears those 3 shows are lost forever. according to someone at Liberty Media co-owner of GSN "apparently a lot of the original master tapes for older shows have tape/audio damage that can't be repaired or replaced and therefore are not good enough quality for airing". I'm shocked by this because they aired the 3 episodes in question years ago on the network schedule. My question to you is GSN at fault for messing up the tapes. Weeks ago, GSN did air episodes 367 and 369 of Blockbusters but not the other 3 shows. Here is the info on the 3 episodes in question:
