I've actually created a fair share of my own little soaps, just for fun. Every now and then, I continue their storylines and such. It's a lotta fun, and sometimes it's a lot more interesting than what's on the actual soaps. I even put the three shows in their own little afternoon lineup, in slots where I think they'd work the best.

1. A SEASON FOR EVERYTHING

A Season for Everything is a traditional-themed soap, geared mainly to the older generation of soap opera viewers, but with appeal to anyone who enjoys classic-styled soap opera. Its title simply refers to the belief that everything has a season. This idea is emphasized especially in the beginning of the show when there is a great debate between the liberal and conservative characters, all unsure of when there should and shouldn't be change in society.

Set in the fictional town of Sapphire, it focuses on three families: the McDermotts, the Springfields, and the Roths. The McDermotts are the main family: Dr. Mitch McDermott, a conservative neurologist at the local hospital; Elaine McDermott, his stay-at-home wife who yearns for a career of her own; Thalia McDermott, their radical, liberal-minded daughter; and Adam McDermott, their high school-aged son who is fighting his own inner demons. Elaine's mother, sister, and niece make up the Springfield family: Amy Springfield is a retired seamstress while her oldest daughter, divorced English teacher Tammy Springfield Foster is an aspiring singer. Tammy has a six-year-old daughter, Meredith, with her ex-husband, Clint Foster. The McDermotts' next-door neighbors are the Roths, which include Dr. Jane Roth, one of Mitch's colleagues; her football coach husband Mike; and their star quarterback son, Shane.

The first several months of storyline deal with various issues. College student Thalia announces to her parents that she is moving out of the family home and into an apartment with friends, couple Jonathan Caskey and Marcy Warren. Mitch is against the idea, as he doesn't want his daughter "living in sin." Elaine is more supportive until Thalia confesses to her that she is having an affair with Jonathan. Thalia, Jonathan, and Marcy finally move into their new apartment, and as Marcy continues to work late nights at a local bar, Jonathan and Thalia's relationship flourishes, coming to a shocking climax when Thalia finds herself pregnant with his child. When Mitch finds out that his daughter, whom he still views as his "little girl," is pregnant out of wedlock, he falls into a midlife crisis. Unfortunately for Elaine, his only relief is in Jane, who shares many of his conservative views.

Elaine soon finds that she and Mitch are growing apart. She tried her hardest to reignite the flame of their marriage, but she realizes that it won't work. Mitch, on the other hand, is afraid of the feelings he is having for Jane, and vice versa. When Mitch visits the Roth home and finds a drunken Mike beating Jane, he takes her away to a hotel room, where he vows never to leave her. Tammy, who is performing at the hotel that night, learns of her brother-in-law's infedelity, but promises to keep quiet...for a price. Tammy wants Mitch to finance her trip to Nashville, where she plans to become the next big thing in country music. Against his better judgement, Mitch obliges her.

Meanwhile, Shane Roth resorts to alcohol when he realizes that he is no longer the star quarterback he once was. A terrible knee injury kicks him out of the game for the entire season of his senior year, making junior Adam McDermott the new starter. Shane is especially annoyed by this because, only months earlier, Adam was a nobody at school, just an average student. Soon, however, Adam's success on the field translates to him becoming close friends with the guys who used to be best friends with Shane. More importantly, however, Adam finds himself heavily attracted to Tiffany Collins, Shane's girlfriend. When Tiffany breaks things off with Shane, the jaded senior gets in touch with a drug dealer and starts to use marijuana.

As time goes on, more characters are introduced. Mike dies in a car accident after learning that Tammy is pregnant with his child. Thalia has her baby, named Kasey Amanda McDermott, and she and Jonathan eventually wed. Mitch and Elaine patch things up, leaving Jane alone, but not for long. Mitch's brother Will (along with his busy-body ex Valerie, and their daughter Davey) comes to town and becomes attracted to the doctor. Marcy's little sister, Harley, also becomes a regular character.

I've never really worked out a cast for it, unlike the other two, but I've always had a few actors and actresses in mind for certain roles. Bobbie Eakes (Krystal, AMC) has always been my choice for Tammy Springfield. Zach Roerig (ex-Casey, ATWT) has always been 'Shane' to me.

This would start off the soap opera lineup at 2:00PM central. It'd run for a half-hour.

2. TO LIVE EACH DAY

To Live Each Day is my idea of what a 1980s primetime soap would be like if produced for daytime, in today's world. It epitomizes glamor, campiness, and over-the-topness, but in a loving, tasteful way. It takes place in the town of Coastal Gardens, Minnesota, with a focus on two of the major industries in this strange town: department stores and daytime television.

Devised as an hourlong soap, the cast list is pretty sizeable, but all of the characters are connected in one way or another:

The Brennan family:
1. Rebecca Brennan (Susan Seaforth Hayes) - the founder and owner of LeeMont Department Stores, Inc.; a tough-as-nails businesswoman with a soft spot for her family.
2. Tess Brennan (Colleen Zenk Pinter) - Rebecca's younger, more level-headed sister, who serves on the board and has a major percentage of LeeMont stock.
3. Maureen Diamond (Lauren Koslow) - The widow of Rebecca and Tess's older brother, Ray, who co-founded LeeMont with Rebecca in 1967.
4. Blythe Marchand (Michelle Stafford) - Rebecca's daughter with her ex, Roger Marchand
5. Hagen Marchand (Eden Riegel) - Blythe's daughter, the result of a one night stand.
6. Maggie Jennings (Melody Thomas Scott) - Rebecca and Tess's bastard sister, their mother's daughter.
7. Lance Jennings (Colin Egglesfield) - Maggie's crafty son, a doctor

The Wentworth/Marcantel family:
1. Karen Marcantel (Morgan Fairchild) - the host of "Live Morning," a popular, local daytime talk show, and mother of two sons
2. Tom Marcantel (Walt Willey) - Karen's lawyer husband
3. Jack Marcantel (Bryan Datillo) - Karen and Tom's oldest son, an intern at Coastal Gardens Medical Center
4. Seth Marcantel (Drew Tyler Bell) - Karen and Tom's scheming 17-year old son
5. Kevin Wentworth (Doug Davidson) - Karen's adulterous older brother
6. Nancy Wentworth (Leslie Charleson) - Kevin's soon-to-be ex-wife
7. Diane Wentorth (Alexa Havins) - Kevin and Nancy's daughter
8. Layla Madison (Julia Barr) - Kevin's mistress

The Linson/Hutchinson family:
1. Daphne Linson (Louise Shaffer) - actress, major cast member of the soap opera "Family Secrets" since its debut in 1972; Rebecca's best friend; widow of director Matt Fairlane
2. Laura Hutchinson (Melissa Reeves) - Daphne's oldest daughter, a doctor, wife, and mother
3. Alan Hutchinson (Jon Hensley) - Laura's detective husband
4. Shane Hutchinson (Jesse McCartney) - Laura and Alan's son and Seth Marcantel's best friend
5. Melinda Fairlane (Rebecca Budig) - Daphne's youngest daughter, an aspiring lawyer, and Jack Marcantel's steady girlfriend
6. Hannah Jorgensen (Robyn Richards) - Shane's girlfriend

1. Victoria Smart (Susan Lucci) - widow of Richard Smart, sister of Nancy Wentworth and the founder of new, up and coming mail-order catelog company Visions of Glory

Seriale title: IIt Often Happens

It Often Happens is about a strange group of people who are all studying at the same medical school. They are the social outcasts of the London Med School. It shows the cold and unfeeling side of everyone as the seven of them fight together as they grow to trust (and sometimes mistrust) each other.

The Cast

The Jones Family

Lacquer Jones: A strange foriegn exchange student from England who is at first disliked by everyone. As the rest of the crew begin to like her more, she suddenly becomes farther away than ever. Wants to be a diagnostician.

Phillip Jones: Laquer's younger brother, not born in England. He, unlike his sister, is open and exuberant, and almost immidiately becomes a major part of the group. He and Olivia almost immidiately start going out, and he is a bit of a casanova. Great at pracical medicine.


The Kelleher family

Jason Kelleher: Jason, the real brain of the group, falls hard for Laquer the moment he sees her. Laquer and Jason finally end up going out at the end of the first season. He is the only one who really understands Laquer for who she really is. Best at cancer reserch and cancerous surgery.

Bryant Kelleher: Jason's older brother, also in love with Laquer, though more for her body than her brains. Bryant sees Jason as a threat to his and Laquer's relationship. Bryant tries to screw their friendship up by spreading rumours that Jason has already slept with another girl. Is best at pediatrics.

Chris Kelleher: Chris, the, baby of the family, hates her brothers and sees London Med as an escape from her familly. Unfortunately, she is only a so-so student and only excells at one thing; spinal and nerve surgery.


Other

Olivia Petery: Olivia is the 'queen bee' of the group. She is a natural leader, and tries to outdo Laquer in diagnosing. She also aspires to be a diagnostician, but knows that Laquer will beat her out in the end. She leaves school by the end of the first season.

Dan Rockwell: Dan is the unknown genius of the group. He acts stupid, but sometimes his hidden brilliance shows. He aspires to be a brain surgeon or a neurologicalist. Ends up going out with Chris Kelleher.
