Default Two Petes in a Pod

What a classic episode. Peter bumps into a new kid at school who is the splitting image of himself. (Same build, same voice, same haircut.) Within ten seconds they make plans to go to Peter's house after school and fool his family. There are so many funny things about this one...

Peter's double (Arthur) is so attracted to Jan that he's practically drooling over her. He offers to help her with a school project. Later, (the real) Peter gets offended when she asks him to help her.

Mike and Carol aren't that surprised to see an exact double of their child, but are more concerned about why Peter didn't explain the evening's escapade with two different dates.

Last but not least, I love the "white" t-shirt. Peter tells Arthur to wear a white t-shirt and jeans because he will be wearing the same outfit. But the shirt itself is hardly whitle. It's the dingiest shade of light gray or light brown you've ever seen. It's like a t-shirt that should have been thrown away years ago. Not only that, but they both have the *same* type of shirt. Not only that, BUT Carol tells Peter that he needs to hurry up and change before the boss's niece comes over and Peter tells her not to worry, that he'll be ready. He actually thinks the t-shirt is an appropriate thing to wear on his date. Hilarious.

Unfortunately, This is one of my least favorite episodes but it's not even close to "The Personality Kid" that other stinker featuring Peter. If I never hear Porkchops and Applesauce again, I'll be eternally grateful.

Actually, I admit the episode does get kind of lame when both dates show up and they spend a lot of time with Pete getting in and out of his Dracula costume and trying to attend to both of his dates. Way too painful to watch. ...But I like the rest of it.

I also heard that the dark haired girl was in the movie, Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.

Her name is Denise Nickerson. She played Violet in the 1971 version movie
Willy Wonka and the Choclate Factory. Her character gets turned into a blueberry.

One of the worst episodes. The T-shirt thing, the fact the parents weren't even fazed by Peter having an exact double, and the dracula costume changes really bothered me.

Add to it that this was the first episode shot with Cousin Oliver, my vote is

I'm not sure that I understand how those two things make it a bad show.

I think it was pretty entertaining overall. Mindless entertainment is why we watch the show, right? It's not as if we have something to learn from it.

I also like the way that Peter dances. It's funny but cool.

I like that episode, especially the part where Arthur was staring at Jan, I'd be doing the same thing if I was his age, of course at the time I was only 11 so...

I don't quite follow you here, Rich.

1. Did Peter have on the T-shirt (presumably the white one) at the time, and did Carol tell Peter to change, only to have Peter talk back to her saying it was appropriate?

2. Or was Carol telling Arthur (thinking at the time it was Peter) to change his dark gray shirt?

The "double" thing isn't as unusual as you think. When I was in Junior High I thought I saw my sister across the cafeteria only to discover it wasn't her!

Later she got escorted to the principal's office because they thought she was that other girl and when they showed her the ID card she thought it was her picture with someone else's name.

I knew a guy who looked so much like Tom Selleck that at Great America a bunch of people came up to him and asked for his autograph.

On a scarier note, several co workers have told me that they saw me at places I've never been driving cars I've never owned and with a wife and several children I don't have.

All shirts was dipped in coffee or chocolate at the time. Something about it not showing up on camera or something. I read about that in a Andy Griffith Show book about Jack that played Howard. He said he had a white dress shirt dipped because they asked him to. He brought his own wardrobe because for him they did not have any. He was puzzled about that statement. He did not know about the camera techniques yet.
